Top Rated Vegetarian Restaurants in Winnipeg

Good food should not be hard to find – even when you have specific preferences, dietary needs, or spiritual requirements. Still, vegans and vegetarians alike are finding it difficult to access high quality and tasty food within their budget.

This is where we come in.

We have the top rated vegetarian restaurants in Winnipeg that you must try. Quality taste, great service and plenty of healthy options to choose from, take your pick from this list for your next food trip.

How Much Do Vegetarian Restaurants Cost in Winnipeg

While it is good to be able to make your own dishes at home, many of us just don’t have the time for prep and clean-up. Then again, a common misconception is that vegan and vegetarian restaurants are expensive.

This is simply not true. There are plenty of vegetarian restaurants to try in Winnipeg, and you may be surprised how reasonable the prices actually are.

Then again, when it comes to evaluating the cost, customers should always be keen on checking the list of ingredients. Always look for the quality indicators like “vegetarian”, “gluten-free”, “fresh”, and “organic”.

When referring to the table below, these are the average costs of food items ordered from vegetarian restaurants in Winnipeg. This, however, does not reflect the daily expenses when practicing a vegetarian lifestyle.

In fact, according to a 2015 study in the Journal of Hunger and Environmental Nutrition, it shows that vegetarians spend approximately $750.00 less than those who include meat and dairy products in their diet.

Vegetarian RestaurantsAverage Cost
Daily Meal Plans$17.00 to $25.00 per day
Main Dishes$7.00 to $15.00
Soups and Salads$3.00 to $10.00
Smoothie Bowls$5.00 to $10.00
Beverages$1.00 to $5.00
Desserts and Baked Goods$1.00 to $5.00

Delectable choices from Top-Rated Vegetarian Restaurants in Winnipeg

Whether you’re looking for a vegetarian restaurant to grab your daily bites from or a place to celebrate a special occasion, these places make for great options. No longer will you have to stress over your options when you dine out in Winnipeg.

While preparing this list, we used a five point criteria system to assess the many restaurants in Winnipeg.

We didn’t just look for restaurants that offered vegetarian options in their menu. We checked their locations, food lists, services and reviews to see which ones are the best.

Here is our criteria for the Top-Rated Vegetarian Restaurants in Winnipeg.

Taste of Vegetarian Options
Most customers complained that the vegetarian options in many restaurants don’t taste as good as the meals with meat. We looked into this and made sure that the restaurants we included in the list are of high-quality, well-prepared and delicious.
Quality of Service
We need friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable staff to attend to the needs of customers. It is also helpful if they know enough about their vegetarian options, the process of preparing the food, and where the food is sourced.
Convenience and Amenities
It’s a given that a restaurant should not only be comfortable for customers, but also convenient and accessible. It is also a bonus if they have other amenities that improve the dining experience of their customers.
Affordable or Reasonably Priced
People should get the value and good quality of food that they paid for. With that, we made sure that the restaurants in this list price their vegetarian options within reason.

They offer a generous selection of appetizers, soups, deluxe dishes, tofu, bean curds, and combination platters. They also provide veggie fish and chicken in delectable and savory sauces that customers can pair with rice or noodles.

What the Verde Juice Bar offers is more than just a vegetarian menu. They offer a lifestyle and a hub for positivity, wellness, and health.

With that said, they also invite people into a community, alongside a healthy food experience. Their food selection, however, is quite sparse.

They are not the top choice if you’re aiming to fill your tummy, but they are one of the top go-tos for people who are aiming to lose a few pounds and are incorporating a lightweight diet.

The top products of the Verde Juice Bar are their cold-pressed, organic juices that not only promote a better diet, but also recycling and sustainability.

As for their food, albeit limited in selection, they offer plant-based dishes made from 100% organic ingredients to support their goal of reducing the consumption of harmful chemicals. That means a lot of scrumptious toasts, pies, smoothies, oat bowls, salad bowls, sandwiches, and soups.

Their menu may seem intimidating at first*, but their staff and the owners are very accommodating and open to guiding customers towards the best food choices. Their menu items also come with fun names and the ingredient list is included on display so customers are aware.

Another thing to love about the Verde Juice Bar is the place, with its minimalist interiors and relaxing ambiance. This is truly the ideal place for hanging out with friends or spending some alone time with a good book.

Pros

  • Visually-pleasing food presentation, both online and real time
  • High quality food ingredients
  • All organic selection

Wonderfully minimalist place with healthy selection of food and drinks

I love Verde and it’s one of my go-to restaurants for healthy meals. They have a variety of bowls, smoothies, juices, hot drinks and treats. I love that they use wholesome and fresh ingredients for everything. There are vegan and gluten free options.

My favorite meals/drinks that I have tried have been the Burrito Bowl (also completely vegan and gluten-free), Rise and Shine Smoothie and Happy Land Juice. The Burrito Bowl is packed full of delicious foods and is very filling and tasty.

The cafe is cute and beautifully decorated with lots of plants. They have a small area for seating as well and a large window looking out to Westminster Street. Parking is free on the street.

Great experience!

This place was so cute! The service was amazing! And the food was sooo good! I would recommend anything we had here (see pics) for a delicious breakfast or filling lunch! The art work done by (I’m assuming) local students was so cute and full of character! Loved the style of this place and will for sure be returning next time we’re in the city! Thank you for the great experience!

When we think of high quality but healthy comfort food, people of Winnipeg think of Roughage Eatery. While they are predominantly known as a vegan restaurant, they have a good number of vegetarian choices on their menu – most of which are bestsellers.

They even have gluten-free options that customers can have for both dining in and take away. Pickup orders however require a 15-20-minute notice in order for the staff to properly prepare the food before delivery.

People constantly crave for their food, and that’s not just the reviews saying that. In fact, they have to limit their customers’ dining times during high volume hours in order to accommodate their waiting list.

They have a wide selection in their menu, which includes toasts, salads, soups, quesadillas, nachos, sandwiches, and desserts. While most of their main dishes are served fresh, they also have to-go options for those who want to bring it home instead.

Their weekly vegan items are always in stock and are the best food options for those who need a quick snack before they go. They are also licensed to offer a drink menu which includes  ciders, wines, and beers for curbside and takeaway orders.

Unlike other restaurants that keep mum about certain social events, Roughage Eatery is vocal with their advocacies. Pros

  • Good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes

Contrary to the typical small town cafe, Clementine is more like a day-time bistro. With that, we consider them the best place for breakfast dates and brunches.

They have a delectable selection of main dishes that vegetarians love. The sides are also fancy and impressive, with a commendable list of ingredients included in the menu.

Their cuisine is predominantly European and costs a pretty penny. It can also take a while to reach your table.

A gem of Winnipeg!

I’ve been a customer of this establishment for years.  The food is INCREDIBLE and cheap.  The menu accommodates many different diets and is highly customizable.  The staff are friendly and efficient.  The owner is a real character which certainly adds to the appeal.  This is a Winnipeg gem.  A must-try for any Manitoban.

— Suzanne MacPherson, Google Reviews

Plenty of scrumptious vegetarian options

The food is generous and delicious! There is something for everyone, from meat-lovers to vegans. The falafels are amazing! The hummus is delicious. The potato pancakes are wonderful. There are choices of spice levels, and if you like spice, their in-house hot sauce is not to be missed! Also, they make wonderful preserves. Jams, jellies, and marmalade.  The atmosphere is friendly, the decor is bright and filled with local artwork. One of our very favourite breakfast places in Winnipeg. Highly recommend!

If you enjoy classic Middle Eastern cuisine and pita wraps, then Good Lands Cafe has a delectable vegan twist to it. They also have a 100% plant-based menu for anyone who is keen on their diet and nutrition.

What we appreciate about Good Lands Cafe is that they put complete details about their menu on their website. That means they display names, prices, and ingredients to keep their customers informed.
