Dine with Your Eyes at 13 Scenic Winnipeg Restaurants
We like to be fed with both our tongues and our eyes, and any shortcomings in either of these senses can easily make us put our forks down. This is why we love these 13 Winnipeg restaurants and why we want to get them on your radars.
1. Promenade Brasserie

The Promenade Brasserie offers exquisite European cuisine that pairs very well with views of some of Winnipeg’s most famous buildings (if you dine outside).
To help you picture things, this will be your view of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Esplanade Riel Footbridge.

We recommend dining after 6 PM to get the best scenic experience. The museum and the footbridge absolutely light up the sky with beautiful bright lights that fit every mood, from romantic to celebratory.
2. Prairie’s Edge

Prairie’s Edge indulges in the beautiful view of the small like along Selkirk and Peguis. The reason why we love coming here over and over again is because there’s always something to look at no matter where you sit.
This restaurant is surrounded by beautiful buildings and installations like the Winnipeg Public Art Collection, the Chief Peguis statue, and the Tommy Prince Monument. The lake has a ton of ducks too, and ducks are cute!

We recommend coming here anytime during the day or before sunset since the lake and its surrounding buildings really shine with sunlight. The place could be just as pretty at night too, but sadly there’s not much light save for some street lamps.
3. The Blue Marble Restaurant & Lounge

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the scale of runways and terminals is just awe-inspiring. The James Armstrong Richardson International Airport’s Blue Marble gives you a great view of the airport, which is perfect for when you want to feel small.
If you’re a tourist, this restaurant serves as the best possible introduction to the city. You get a sweet glimpse of Winnipeg’s many towering buildings, which look even better from the airport since the air is cleaner than anywhere else.

4. Park Cafe

Assiniboine Park’s Park Cafe feels like a restaurant in the middle of the Garden of Eden. The high-ceiling windows expose you to everything the park has to offer, including its ponds, lakes, fountains, and gardens.

The Park Cafe is the place you go to when you want to feel happy. Trust us when we say it’s impossible to feel anything negative while being surrounded by so much pretty nature.
5. The Roost on Corydon

If you’re planning on visiting the Roost, we recommend sitting on the rooftop and avoiding the inside seats. You’ll be missing out on some amazing views of the city, plus it can get pretty cramped inside given how packed this place usually is.

As you look out the rooftop, you get a glimpse of everything that makes Winnipeg Winnipeg. You have the bustling streets below, a clean park on one side, and towering buildings on the other.
6. The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory lines up along the Red River’s river walk, which you get a great view of if you sit outside. What we love about this place is that whether day or night, the view doesn’t disappoint.

During the day, looking at the river is great for relieving your stress. At night though, the river walk’s lights light up and you get this dreamy ambiance, sort of a mix between romantic and fantastical.
7. Pony Corral Restaurant & Bar (Pier 7)

Imagine stepping onto the Pony Corral’s patio, where the gentle breeze carries the distant sounds of lapping waves and sailboats gliding by. Staring at the rhythmic flow of the river while you eat, you’ll find it difficult to feel any kind of stress.
We have absolutely nothing to complain about. The food is great and the environment’s even better, making this one of the most relaxing places in the city.

If you’re planning a visit but don’t want the usual restaurant seating, you can try renting one of the boats along the pier. It’ll be a huge upgrade to your dining experience and will leave you and your friends with a very unforgettable memory.
8. Cibo Waterfront Cafe

The Cibo Waterfront Cafe is right beside the Red River, where the gentle currents will make every meal taste so much better.
You can opt to either sit outside the entrance and enjoy the ASMR sound of water, or you can sit inside by the window and get hypnotized by the slow-moving river. Wherever you choose to sit, you’ll be relaxed in one way or another.

9. Tommy’s Pizzeria

Tommy’s Pizzeria pairs excellent Italian food with one of the best inside views of the city. Like most of the restaurants on our list, the best place to sit is outside, where you get immersed in Winnipeg’s busy streets and dazzling skyline.
If you’re planning on visiting, we recommend coming at night when there are fewer cars. The ambiance transforms from lively to calming, plus the city lights look amazing from the pizzeria’s patio.
10. 529 Wellington Steakhouse

529 Wellington is considered by many of us as one of the most beautiful restaurants in Winnipeg. The landscape, lighting, and outdoor seating are all views in and of themselves.
If you choose to sit outside, you’ll be surrounded by beautifully well-kept greenery that goes well with your view of the Assiniboine River.
The place looks good during the day but even better at night when vintage-looking street lamps are lit and gently exhibit the surrounding areas.

11. Oval Room Brasserie

The Oval Room Brasserie’s view is more about the restaurant’s interior, although you can get a nice view of Bonnycastle Park if you sit by the windows. The interior is nothing but grand, and you can easily end up staring at any section of the room.
If you want the outside view, then you’ll be happy to know that even though the building’s surrounded by even bigger buildings, the restaurant sits at a sweet spot where nothing will block your view.

If you want the inside view, then this place looks much better at night. If you want the outside view though, then come when there’s still sun since the park can be pretty hard to see in the dark.
12. The Cargo Bar at Assiniboine Park

Assiniboine Park’s Cargo Bar is a small eatery set up inside an old shipping container. Head up to the rooftop for a nice overview of the park and the surrounding buildings.
If you don’t like what the rooftop has to offer though, then the ground seats are pretty great too.
You’ll get the chance to be surrounded by trees and grass, and there are little orange lamps on each table that complement your surroundings when the sun goes down.
13. The Beer Can

The Beer Can is our favorite spot for looking at ducks. It’s right beside the Assiniboine River, so not only will you be relaxed by the sound of water, but you’ll be entertained by ducks and jumping fish too!
Here’s one of the stunning views you get of the rising Assiniboine river, right from your own table!
