Relive the Past at Winnipeg’s 13 Antique and Vintage Shops
Winnipeg has been Canada’s cultural melting pot since forever, and what better way to see this than through antiques? Collectibles, heirlooms, and Indigenous artifacts are just some of the things we found in Winnipeg’s antique and vintage shops.
What we love about Winnipeg’s shops is that even the most obscure items can be found if you know where to look. To get you started, these are our 13 favorite antique and vintage shops in Winnipeg!
1. The Old House Revival Company

When it comes to antiques, the Old House Revival Company should be one of the first places to check. It’s got goods from over 40 different vendors, so chances are you’ll find whatever niche thing you’re looking for.
In fact, you can decorate your whole apartment solely using the stuff you find here. You can mix stuff like 40s furniture with retro wallpapers, then have your shelves decorated with dolls and vases from the 60s!
What we usually come here for though, are the occasional auctions. Some neat stuff like coins and rare autographed items usually pop up at these events, and we always get a sense of awe when they do—even if we can’t afford any of it.
2. Johnston Terminal Antique Mall

The Johnston Terminal Antique Mall is a great spot for owning little pieces of Winnipeg’s history. You’ll find the usual furniture and clothing, but the most exciting items are the rare, discontinued products and limited edition memorabilia.
If you’re looking for something extra rare though, then we suggest you try the wish list service! It can sometimes take weeks for the staff to get back to you, but they’ll eventually find whatever you’re looking for and will hold it for you until you return!
Some of our cool finds here were a typewriter from the 1800s, some old vintage watches, and some candlesticks!
3. Época Haus

Epoca Haus specializes in home decor from the 50s to the 70s. You’ll find everything from pristine sofas and chairs to radioactive clocks and art!
If you’re not a furniture expert like some of us, then the owner is more than ready to help you decorate your home. She’s really passionate about her store, so there’s no risk of buying bug-infested couches like in other antique stores.
She also knows the history of each and every item and would gladly tell you about it, especially the 70s items!
If you’re not a furniture and art kind of person though, then maybe you’ll like Epoca’s massive collection of old books.
This store has some of the most extensive collections we’ve seen of first-edition copies, banned works, and even a handful of manuscripts!
4. Candle Company Antiques

Coming into Candle Co. Antiques will have you feeling like a kid on Christmas, especially if you love comics. There’s so much stuff that you can end up spending half an hour processing your choices.
All three floors of this shop are filled to the ceiling with items all the way back to the 40s. We suggest you just go straight to the owner and have him find things for you.
Speaking of the owner, there are few we trust more than this guy. He taught us how to check all sorts of items’ conditions, and we’ve used this knowledge in our visits to the other stores.
Prices here are great too, and you can easily negotiate for both buying and selling.
5. Vintage in the Village

Vintage in the Village has a very well-curated selection of vintage and antique pieces, and the owner is helpful enough to recommend other stores if she doesn’t have what you’re looking for!
This shop is our go-to when it comes to vintage electronics. So far, we’ve bought some (functional) early 80s computers, a Game Boy, and some vintage radios!
Some other cool stuff we found while browsing were some Pentax lenses, expired film rolls, and a table dedicated to precious stones, ambers, and beads!
If you somehow don’t find anything interesting enough for you, just talk to the owner and she’ll tell you where else to go.
6. Mike’s General Store

Mike’s is one of the most well-known antique shops in Winnipeg thanks to its eccentric murals. Aside from the great finds, what sets this place apart from the rest is the fact that it’s actually organized, so we find rare stuff much more easily.
Throughout our visits, we’d say this store is best for anyone looking for vinyl, toys, and Coca-Cola merch.
A hidden gem for vinyl collectors, Mike’s has a well-preserved selection of classic rock, jazz, blues, and even some neat sonograms!
If you’re lucky, you may even encounter some vintage cars outside since Mike’s is one of the city’s spots for vintage car meets!
7. Kildonan MCC

Kildonan MCC is a thrift shop, and it’s one of the best places to get pre-loved pre-2000s items. The dedicated antique section can be found in the back and you can find a little bit of everything inside.
This shop specializes in antique furniture and silverware. If you’re lucky, you might even find some vintage hand-cranked eggbeaters and 60s Fiestaware.
This is also the only shop with a dedicated repair section inside, so you don’t have to worry about buying broken stuff!
8. Selim’s Antiques

Selim’s has all sorts of old treasures, but we usually come here for the jewelry. There’s always a wide variety to choose from, and most are in near-perfect condition and at bargain prices!
Since most of the jewelry here has been handed down through generations, you can expect to find many that have some sort of personalization, like engravings. If you want to remove these things, the owner can do it for you free of charge!
Aside from the jewelry, Selim’s is also a fine place to find fine china and all sorts of vintage Asian goods. For the longest time, this has been our go-to for gift shopping—and our friends’ smiles say all we need to know!
9. Atomic Age Vintage

Atomic Age Vintage has furniture from the 50s and 60s that looks as good as new. Everything here has either been well-preserved or re-upholstered by the owner.
The owner is definitely one of our favorite parts of this shop since she goes above and beyond for everyone. She once delivered a fragile, handcrafted 50s vase to us herself because she saw that shipping would be too expensive!
Her care probably stems from the fact that she’s been an antique lover since her teens. As such, you can ask her to look for the most niche things and she’ll help you in a heartbeat!
10. Vantage Vintage Boutique

The Vantage Vintage Boutique is one of Winnipeg’s best for vintage clothing, featuring everything from everyday to formal wear. It doesn’t have that old, musty atmosphere that most vintage shops have, which is a huge plus for us!
The owners, Michael and Joshua, have a true passion for vintage and antique fashion. We asked them for help with everything from sizing to styling tips, and they delivered every time despite entertaining a bunch of other customers.
You’ll probably end up asking them for help sooner or later since browsing the whole store can take hours! The boutique has clothes from every decade since the 1910s, and occasionally even from the Victorian period!
11. Vintage Glory

Vintage Glory has quite the reputation for its unique hand-picked clothing, accessories, costumes, jewelry, and footwear. The shop takes pride in selling well-preserved clothes from as far back as the 1800s.
With everything here being so well kept, you can expect some items to be more expensive than elsewhere. In exchange though, you get a guarantee that even the stuff from the 19th century is free from moths and mildew.
12. Chip’s Vintage

Chip’s Vintage is a very well-organized thrift shop where you’ll find color-coordinated racks filled with novelty tees, vintage denim, Hawaiian shirts, and party dresses. It’s also got a great collection of vinyl and vintage band merch!
If you want to relax after trying on Chip’s clothes, there’s an old claw machine and floor table you can use. Whenever we’re in the area, we like to visit to sit and read, unless there are some unique items on sale.
These things can fly off the shelves within hours, but you can sometimes find film cameras and watches in great condition. We suggest you try and be friends with the owner so you’ll be the first to know when these items arrive!
13. Brian’s Corner Antiques & Thrift

Brian’s Corner Antiques offers some of the most niche things. During our visits, we found an old Toyota steering wheel, a box of Game Boy batteries, and a locket with wedding vows engraved on it.
Because of how diverse the collections here are, we noticed that Brian’s comes up quite often whenever we ask other antique stores for recommendations. If you’re missing a piece for your collection, there’s a high chance that Brian’s has it.
Some of us think the place has too much stuff, so you can easily miss some neat items. If you decide to visit, make sure you’re prepared to spend at least an hour browsing.
