What to Look Forward to on Astronomy Night at FortWhyte Alive Winnipeg on January 16, 2025

Mark your calendars for January 16, 2025, because FortWhyte Alive in Winnipeg is kicking off the year with an unforgettable Astronomy Night. It’ll be the first of many for the year.

Since the wildlife preserve only stays open until 5 PM on most days, I’m really excited to see what the landscape looks like at night. But what I’m looking forward to the most is the Star Dome.

The Star Dome is a portable planetarium that will be set up in the Richardson Interpretive Centre. Inside, you’ll go on a journey through space and see a fresh perspective on the night sky from cultures around the world.

Oh and cross your fingers for clear skies! If the weather is favorable, you get to sit around a bonfire, sip warm drinks, watch presentations, and of course, share different stories.

On Astronomy Night, there will be two sessions: 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM and 7:30 PM to 8:45. A ticket costs $30, but if you have a FortWhyte Alive membership, it’ll only be $25.
