Winnipeg’s 10 Best Hotels with Balconies

Winnipeg’s 10 Best Hotels with Balconies

Picture this: you’re on a balcony sipping on a DIY cocktail you learned from a cooking class, while Winnipeg’s cool breeze keeps your glass cold. The city skyline mesmerizes you, and the more you drink, the more you think: “I love this city!”

These kinds of scenarios are why we love going to balcony hotels, and the higher up the room is, the better! We explored Winnipeg’s 10 hotels with balconies and we’ll tell you what we loved about each of them.

1. Assiniboine Gordon Inn on the Park

Assiniboine Gordon Inn on the Park

We stumbled upon the Assiniboine Gordon Inn during one of our visits to Assiniboine Park. We checked in for an overnight stay right when the park was about to close.

The first thing we noticed was how the place gave a calming mom-and-pop vibe. The owners were very accommodating throughout our stay and helped make our room feel as homey as a hotel room can get.

The rooms aren’t the biggest, but they’re very well-kept and clean-feeling. We’re sure even the germophobes among you can sleep soundly!

When we weren’t sleeping though, we’d spend most of our time sitting on the balcony. Since the hotel is far from the area’s busy roads, reading our books felt very easy!

If you decide to visit, the one thing you should definitely look forward to is the mornings. Sipping on a cup of coffee while enjoying the balcony’s view of the park was one of the most feel-good experiences we’ve had in a long time.

2. Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Downtown

Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Downtown

The Hampton Inn’s balconies offer some of the best views of the downtown skyline, especially at night. There’s no better way to end a full day of exploring downtown than by staring at the city lights with a cocktail in your hand.

The hotel comes with spacious rooms, fast WiFi, a free and better-tasting-than-most breakfast, and a gym.

We were exploring Winnipeg’s free museums and ended up more tired than expected at the end of the day. When we entered our room and saw the king-sized bed and the equally large balcony, all our fatigue was washed away.

Pro Tip:

If you really want to get your money’s worth with the balcony, there’s a sofa bed in the room that can fit through the doorway leading to the balcony. It feels much better compared to the regular chairs already set up outside!

3. Delta Hotels

Delta Hotels

Delta is one of our most memorable hotels mainly because of the great service and how it’s in the center of some really great places.

If you’re coming from or plan on going to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Hargrave Market, the Winnipeg Convention Center, or the airport, then Delta is where you want to stay.

At night, we like to lounge on the balcony after swimming at the Outdoor Blu. The Outdoor Blu is the hotel’s rooftop pool that lets you swim against a backdrop of skyscrapers.

If you choose to also get some cocktails at the poolside bar, then the whole experience will make you feel like a very rich human.

In the morning, we got to enjoy the Balcony and Brunch deal. It’s a private balcony brunch for two that gets delivered to your door made up of mimosas, Starbucks coffee, fresh pastries, and pancakes.

This hotel is pricier than most, but we think it’s worth it. If you’re coming from the airport, then a night’s stay here is the best possible introduction to your stay in Winnipeg.

Pro Tip:

If you want a balcony room, we suggest you get one on the highest possible floor. The views are so much better from the 10th floor onwards, with both morning and evening views being equally stunning.

4. Inn at the Forks

Inn at the Forks

The Inn at the Forks was built for relaxation, offering a spa and wellness center along with some of Winnipeg’s most luxurious rooms. This hotel is right next to the Forks Market, making it a great resting spot after a day of exploring the city’s culture.

Since this hotel is so close to one of Winnipeg’s busiest areas, one of our favorite things to do here is to just lean on the railings while enjoying a smoke.

People-watching is something you’ll find yourself doing pretty often here with how lively the streets are, and it’s pretty relaxing too, in a way!

Pro Tip:

To make the most of your stay (and if you have the money), we suggest you get the balcony rooms with jetted tubs. It’s a great way to keep the relaxation going even after your spa session’s ended!

5. Comfort Inn Airport

Comfort Inn Airport

Conveniently located near the Winnipeg International Airport and with a free shuttle service, Comfort Inn is our go-to budget hotel after a long flight.

The rooms feel very clean and modern, offering a 43-inch TV, microwave, and soft beds that feel amazing after having your butt go numb during your flight.

Of course, the best part is the balcony. Nothing beats getting fresh air with a view after a flight.

The balconies are small, but that’s more than enough for us!

This place is also pet-friendly! What’s more relaxing than looking at the city views while your cat’s rubbing against your leg?

Pro Tip:

The hotel is located near the Forks, so Winnipeg’s amazing restaurants are just a short walk away.

6. Viscount Gort Hotel

Viscount Gort Hotel

Offering free airport shuttles and being a 5-minute walk from CF Polo Park, the Viscount Gort Hotel is a great place for the weary traveler. It’s set up in a quiet corner of Winnipeg, so you can sleep all you want until the jetlag settles.

The rooms don’t come with fancy amenities like jacuzzis, but they’re huge, like, apartment-sized!

Our favorite part about this hotel though, is the pool and its water slides. The entire area looks like a mini water park, plus there are separate pools for those who want to relax and the more energetic ones.

Once we’re done soaking, we usually lounge on our room’s balcony for a bit and either stargaze or just watch the cars pass by. The staff are pretty quick to deliver food and drinks to the balcony too, so we usually have little to worry about.

7. Courtyard by Marriott Winnipeg Airport

Courtyard by Marriott Winnipeg Airport

Courtyard has everything you can expect from a high-end airport hotel: soundproof rooms, a clean and sleek interior, great food, and very attentive staff.

The balcony rooms are located on the other side of the hotel, the one facing away from the runway. Plane sounds can still be heard when you step outside, but we don’t think it’s too disturbing.

If you’re staying for a layover or are anticipating a late or early flight, then this is the perfect hotel for you. The staff here always go above and beyond, even going so far as to keep track of our departure times to make sure we don’t get left behind!

The food is our highlight whenever we check-in. The restaurants downstairs are top-notch and cater to all sorts of cuisines, plus you can bring some up to your room to enjoy on the balcony!

The only downside we can think of is the lack of microwaves in the rooms, so you’ll have to come prepared to spend money on restaurant food.

8. Hotel Royal Plaza

Hotel Royal Plaza

The Hotel Royal Plaza is right in the city center of Winnipeg, making it one of the most well-connected hotels in the city. Staying here will put you near the city’s best shops, festivals, and anything else you can think of!

We first encountered this place when we visited the Festival du Voyageurs a few years ago. The first thing we noticed was the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to help us.

It was cold during our visit and one of the cars in our group broke down. We asked the staff for help and we watched as they did everything they knew to get the car up and running!

The rooms aren’t all as stellar, but we can tell the staff put a lot of care into maintaining each crevice. It’s your average budget hotel room, but we didn’t feel the need to worry about ticks or cockroaches hidden inside.

The balcony is best enjoyed at night when the liveliness of the city has died down. We played with some of the room’s board games on the balcony and it remains one of our most pleasant memories within the group.

9. Mariaggi’s Theme Suite Hotel and Spa

Mariaggi's Theme Suite Hotel and Spa

Mariaggi’s has some pretty big and well-decorated rooms. Each room is themed after different cultures from around the world, which made it feel like we were in Vegas!

All of the rooms have a fireplace, hot tub, sauna, and a steam shower to help ease even your worst troubles. The balconies are really spacious too and we were surprised it wasn’t shared!

If you want to make the most out of the balcony’s view, try to come during a festival to see the liveliness from a different angle. Seeing people dressed up while there’s music echoing through the streets is a different kind of magical!

Calm nights fit Mariaggi’s balconies too, and the cushioned chairs don’t feel sunken in. It helps make drinking and playing board games on the balcony more enjoyable!

10. Cavalier Inn

Cavalier Inn

The Cavalier Inn is one of our favorite budget balcony hotels mainly because it doesn’t cut any corners. The hotel is clean and accessible, and the staff are as attentive as in more expensive places!

You won’t get any amenities aside from a TV, but at least you won’t find any dust on your bed! Even the balconies are nearly spotless.

The hotel is located in a quiet spot in Regent, so there won’t be any cars honking to disturb your peace. While the balconies here aren’t the biggest, it does more than enough for when you need an outdoor escape.

We’d also like to highlight the staff for their patience since they didn’t give us even a hint of attitude even when they were bombarded with requests from other guests. They still delivered everything we needed within minutes of calling!
