The 4 Best Pickleball Spots in Winnipeg That Local Players Can’t Get Enough Of

The first time I played pickleball, I thought it was some sort of hipster trend where you throw pickles at each other. I’m not even kidding!

Turns out, it’s a mix of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, played with a wiffle ball and a paddle slightly bigger than my self-esteem after losing my first game.

But hey, I’m hooked now! Mostly because it’s the only sport where I can burn calories and still have room to argue about line calls like a Wimbledon champ.

If you’re in Winnipeg and looking to get your pickleball fix, I’ve got the inside scoop on where to play. These spots are perfect whether you’re a seasoned pro, a beginner who still thinks “dinking” is a TikTok dance, or somewhere in between.

Let’s paddle into the top courts in town!

  • Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday: 9 am – 8 pm

Jill Officer Park features 4 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts, all equipped with permanent lines and nets. And here’s the best part: it’s completely free to play!

The park recently got a big upgrade. What used to be 4 old tennis courts is now a mix of 2 revamped tennis courts and 4 brand-new spaces designed specifically for pickleball.

They didn’t cut corners either—new stanchions, proper nets, benches to rest on, trash bins, improved fencing, a spruced-up parking lot, and even some landscaping were added.

The playing surfaces now have an asphalt base with a Plexipave coating, which means you’ll get good traction and a consistent bounce every time.

Pro Tip:

It’s all first come, first served. No reservations here. If you’re aiming for a game during busy hours, you’ll want to show up early to claim your spot.

You can book a court ahead of time, but there’s a small fee to play. If you’re more of a spontaneous type, drop-in sessions are just $5, which is a great deal.

The vibe is super chill and beginner-friendly, so if you’re just starting out or not feeling 100% confident, you’ll fit right in.

For those who want to up their game, Linden Woods runs lessons on Friday mornings from 8:45 to 10:45.
