Happy Tails Pet Resort and Spa is a family-owned business that has served the Winnipeg community for years. It has state-of-the-art facilities in St. Anne’s Road and Samborski Drive.

We love Happy Tails’ range of services they provide and the packages you can choose from. They offer dog day camp, dog hotel, pet spa, and cat hotel services.

They also operate 24/7 everyday. Happy Tails lock doors between 10 pm – 6 am for your pet’s safety, and drop off during those hours requires a phone call beforehand.

Another point for them in our book is their state-of-the-art facilities in both of their locations. Dogs are offered both indoor and outdoor-accessible run areas.

Customers love the unique cage-free boarding and the outdoor play yards with artificial turf. Dog owners who want to spoil their pets more also love the luxury dog condos.

Moreover, separate areas that allow dogs of similar sizes and play style to be kept together is also a plus! Customers tell us that this feature will enable them to worry less about their pet’s safety.

Happy Tails offers a free 90-minute assessment for new members. They also provide a free complete tour for potential visitors and one free hour in their day camp.

On top of that, the membership is also free. It certainly explained why many people recommended them to us.

However, there are several complaints about how the staff handles new and anxious dogs. There are also complaints about some of the staff’s behavior towards customers.

Customers also complained about their requirements, which are inconvenient for pet owners. Fortunately, they are very responsive to client complaints to resolve these issues.

Pros

  • Free membership
  • Free 90-minute assessment
  • Rookie Monday and Tuesday for new members
  •             (only $15 including tax for a full day promo)

Customer Reviews

Friendly environment

“ Love Happy Tails! We started taking our puppy Huckleberry this past month and he loves it! He’s so tuckered out after a full day of play.

The pictures posted throughout the day are great, and the report cards too! We took him for his first groom yesterday and they did a wonderful job.

The staff are always so friendly, and I know my pup is in safe hands when I drop him off. Will definitely be making visits a weekly thing for him! “ – Brittany Dona-lyn, Google Reviews

“We used to take our dog to Happy Tails because we HAD to (we needed daycare for him). But now we also take him on days when we don’t necessarily need to but just because he loves it so much.

He gets so excited when we turn onto the Happy Tails road, and it makes us feel happy to walk in and be greeted by genuinely friendly staff who know exactly who our dog is and how to correctly pronounce his name (it’s a long name in a different language).

At the end of a Happy Tails day, our fur baby is content, sleepy, and cuddly.” – Christine Cyr, Google Reviews

Clean facilities

Very clean, professional and loved the fact they post photos throughout the day to their Facebook page! My dog is not kennel trained but happily stayed in one while at his first day trying out day care.

Needless to say we booked him for a 5 day overnight stay! So happy we found a place like Happy Tails, thank you for all that you do! “ – Aimee Palmer, Google Reviews

However, you should remember that late fees apply that add up for every 15 minutes. There is also an additional late fee for each dog if you own multiple dogs.

There are also several complaints about sanitation, especially in the small dog area. In our opinion, it’s essential that the staff-to-dog ratio is manageable to keep things clean and organized.

Spacious facility and accommodating staff

“ Amazing place to bring your dogs would recommend to anyone!!

My lab pup Lilly loves going there and is always so tired after a long day playing with all her buddies. The staff is also amazing and makes for such easy pick up and drop off couldn’t ask for any better!

Thank you for being such a great facility! ” – Colton Fallis, Google Reviews

The staff and owner have taken care of our fur babies since they were puppies. We’ve done daycare, boarding, obedience training and grooming here and they never disappoint.

Always courteous and responsive to questions asked and any concerns we may have. Our pups love daycare seeing their 2 legged and 4 legged friends.

My pups are well taken care of as they make sure they have enough staff on duty. Call ahead and pre-book so your pup has a spot.

The facility is spacious and you can see what is happening. Plenty of photos to look at the end of the day to see what your pup was up to along with just asking the staff. ❤ “ – Trudy Lo, Google Reviews

“ Our puppy loves Sprockett’s and all the people that work there…including Oma! He is usually exhausted by the time he gets home from playing so hard!!! “ – Liz Curtis, Google Reviews

If you are an owner of a small dog under 30 pounds, you will love our next pick.

The Little Dog House Small Dog Center provides daycare and in-home sleepover services for small dogs. They specialize in small dogs under 30 pounds.

We love this daycare center’s expertise in caring for small dogs. They also provide daycare service even to shy dogs and traumatized rescued dogs.

Because small-sized dogs should only play only amongst same-sized friends, The Little Dog House provides a small and home-like environment for your dogs.

Customers attest that their pets are comfortable and aren’t anxious because larger dogs are not present. A meet-and-greet is also set for each dog and pet parent before booking to ensure they are comfortable.

They have a 1,200-square foot playroom for dogs to play around. They also have a smaller and calmer quiet room that is comfortable for shy dogs.

On top of that, they provide antimicrobial and cushion vinyl for flooring, which is safe for dogs. They even offer aromatherapy to reduce dogs’ tension, stress, and anxiety.

To ensure that the facilities are pet-safe, they use double-gates and designed the area so that loose dogs don’t have access to the front door.

Moreover, the staff at Little Dog House are trained to manage positively with reinforcement, gentle verbal guidance, and the like.

Add it to the fact that their staff members are first aid certified by the St John Ambulance program. This explains why many people recommended them to us.

I love that they have toys and things for the dogs to play with. So many options to keep them entertained!

Love that its a SMALL dog only daycare, I wouldn’t bring my dog anywhere else, for his safety (being 4 lbs) and my safety (for fear of larger dogs). ” – Seval Karaman, Google Reviews
