5 Best Used Car Dealerships in Winnipeg for a Sweet Deal

Transparent Pricing: Nobody likes surprise fees at checkout. We favoured dealers with upfront prices and no sneaky paperwork charges.

Mechanical Reliability: A shiny bonnet won't fix a dodgy engine. We prioritised dealers with thorough inspections, proper reconditioning, and Manitoba safety certifications.

Financing Flexibility: Bad credit shouldn't put the brakes on your car hunt. We looked for dealers offering multiple lenders and competitive financing options.

Post-Purchase Support: Good service shouldn't end when you grab the keys. We favoured dealers offering warranties, on-site repairs, and maintenance perks.

Winnipeg winters can be rough on cars, so a good deal needs to go beyond the price tag. Finding the best used car in Winnipeg means choosing something that can handle icy roads and everyday commutes.

After all, a shiny bonnet doesn’t guarantee a reliable ride. You’ll want fair prices, thorough inspections, and salespeople who won’t make your head spin.

So we’ve rounded up dealerships worth checking out before you grab the keys. And if your new wheels need some TLC, local car detailing shops can tackle that stubborn road salt.

How much does a used car cost in Winnipeg?

Used cars in Winnipeg typically cost CAD 15,000–45,000, depending on the vehicle’s age, size, mileage, and condition.

Budget commuter cars range from CAD 10,000–18,000. Mid-size sedans and crossovers cost around CAD 18,000–30,000.

Family SUVs and minivans typically go for CAD 25,000–45,000. Pickup trucks and work vehicles cost approximately CAD 35,000–65,000.

Remember to budget for sales taxes, insurance, registration, and potential repairs.

1. Ride Time

Website
Address: 87 Oak Point Highway
Contact: 204.272.6161 | Fax: 204.783.7271
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9 AM – 6:30 PM | Friday-Saturday, 9 AM – 6 PM

Nobody likes finding surprise fees when they’re ready to grab the keys. Thankfully, Ride Time skips the paperwork surprises by charging no documentation fees.

But fair pricing is just the start of the journey. Their vehicles undergo reconditioning beyond Manitoba’s basic safety requirements. They even feature the RT AutoFile, which gives buyers a closer look at inspection and repair records.

And here’s a perk that’ll keep your wallet happy long after you’ve driven off. Their Oil-4-Life program covers standard oil, filters, and labour every 8,000 kilometres. You also get access to multiple lenders to make financing more flexible.

However, those lifetime oil changes come with a few strings attached. Before signing, make sure you can commit to scheduled maintenance at Ride Time during weekday service hours and budget for extra fees or oil upgrades.

Pros

  • No documentation fees
  • Reconditioning beyond basic Manitoba safety standards
  • RT AutoFile inspection and repair records
  • Oil-4-Life program every 8,000 km
  • Flexible financing through multiple lenders

Cons

  • Scheduled maintenance must be done at Ride Time to maintain oil-change benefits
  • Extra environmental fees and oil upgrades may apply

Great Experience Finding the Right Car

After speaking with Ches at Ride Time, I finally felt that we found the right dealer.  Ches was awesome. He helped us find exactly what we were looking for within our price range. He walked me through the entire process and had our financing in place really quick.  Within a couple days we were driving off the lot in our new (well new to us) car.

I highly recommend Ride Time to anyone looking to buy a new or used car.

Professional Service and Understanding Staff

I depend on my vehicle for work, and these guys have always been professional and understanding even with my “challenged” credit! I have purchased my last three vehicles there, and I would recommend them to anyone in the market for a new or used car!

And for something a little different, Nott even accepts Bitcoin payments. They offer financing, luxury leasing, and on-site AutoCare services to keep things convenient after you’ve grabbed the keys.

That said, those extended EV trials aren’t exactly pocket change, costing CAD 249–399 per day with a 200 km daily allowance. Check the mileage charges and weekend booking requirements before signing up.

Personable Service with Zero Sales Pressure

This was my first purchase with Nott Autocorp, and my product advisor was Garther.  He was very personable and a great co-pilot for my first test drive on a couple of convertible gems.

The Nott staff in general were friendly and helpful.  There was no pressure, as I considered which car I might buy.  Both vehicles were in great shape. It took me a few visits and an extra test drive for each.  In the end, I was at ease making my choice, both in the dealership and the car.

Smooth Process and Excellent Follow-up

Tyson was great helping us through the purchase of a used BMW for my Mom. He answered all of her questions and made the paperwork and decision process very easy. From my first phone call inquiring about the car on the website to texting to book meeting times (which is so much easier for me!) to after-purchase follow-up with the 2nd set of keys and manual from the previous owners, Tyson made the whole experience enjoyable and easy! Thank you so much!

3. Match Auto Market

Match Auto Market gives Winnipeg car buyers over 80 used vehicles to browse across two locations on Oak Point Highway and Portage Avenue. That’s plenty of options without trekking all over town in search of your next set of wheels.

And there’s more than a packed lot to appreciate here. Their in-house service and safety shop handles vehicle inspections and mechanical preparation, giving buyers extra reassurance before they grab the keys.

Meanwhile, their financing team works with major Canadian banks and alternative lenders. That means more options for buyers with different credit histories, whether they’re building credit or getting back on track.

The catch is that borrowing costs vary by lender, so check the interest rates and any additional fees before signing. The two locations also have different operating hours, so confirm your preferred vehicle’s location and availability before visiting.

Pros

  • Over 80 used vehicles across two Winnipeg locations
  • In-house service and safety shop
  • Vehicle inspections and mechanical preparation
  • Financing through major banks and alternative lenders
  • Financing options for different credit profiles

Cons

  • Interest rates and additional fees vary by lender

Thorough Information and Confident Buying Experience

A big thanks to Nathaniel, who made this all possible. He was incredibly thorough, answering all my questions before I even saw the car in person. His willingness to provide all the info I needed made my wife and me feel confident enough to not only test drive but also buy the 2018 Acura MDX on the same day!

Match Auto has a great selection of used vehicles, and their detailing team did an excellent job making the car look brand new. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a quality pre-owned vehicle!

Top Tier Customer Service and Support

An amazing purchase experience.  I am myself a salesperson, and it is hard to be impressed by amateurs. The owner of Match Autos has the top-tier customer service quality to offer.

A relaxed atmosphere and great flexibility. Valuable warranties offered. Vehicles are checked and prepared well for sale. You buy used and feel like new.

Post-sale experience is also something to talk about. Such friendly people.

I hope everyone coming here is aware of buying used cars and not brand new and acts accordingly.

And if you’re shopping from outside Manitoba, you won’t necessarily need to make the trip. They arrange insured nationwide delivery and offer remote viewing options, including vehicle photos, history reports, and video chats.

Do note that out-of-province buyers may face additional safety inspections before registering their vehicles. They’re also closed on Sundays, limiting weekend visits.

Patient and Extremely Accessible Dealership Team

At this location, you’ll be glad to hear that they really listen and are very accessible for myself and my family, as I have a learning disability, but Mark was patient and very helpful towards my mother with her purchase of a van. I cannot recommend this place enough; these reviews probably don’t do it justice. The scenery in this place is amazing. I could write a whole book about why this place is so cool! Basically, if you want to buy a used car, this is the place, as well as being able to meet some awesome peeps!

Honest, Genuine, and Fast Buying Experience

They made it the best experience we’ve ever had buying a used AWD vehicle.  They were quick to get back to us; they weren’t pushy at all, they were honest, and just so genuine.  No phony pleasantries… they were truly there to get us our second family car!  We just love our Subaru Outback…I would definitely go back there again, and would highly recommend them to any of my friends or family….such a great group of guys…..and great choice of vehicles…and such a neat place to just go see…

5. The Car Store on Main

the-car-store-on-main

Website
Address: 2495 Main St
Contact: (204) 669-1248 | [email protected]
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM | Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM

The Car Store on Main takes the haggling out of used car shopping with upfront, fixed prices for everyone. That means less time bargaining over sticker prices and more time finding your next set of wheels.

And instead of pushing you towards the priciest ride, their purchase assistants focus on finding something that fits your needs. Their 5,000-square-foot mechanical and detailing centre handles vehicle preparation before cars hit the lot.

Meanwhile, their on-site A.B. Finance team works with major banks and credit unions to explore suitable loan options. Eligible vehicles offer an Advantage Plan with a 30-day warranty covering Manitoba safety-related components, adding some reassurance to your purchase.

That said, their fixed-price approach leaves little wiggle room for bargain hunters hoping to negotiate a discount.

Also, since the warranty doesn’t cover every mechanical problem, it’s good to check the Advantage Plan’s terms before signing.

Pros

  • Upfront, no-haggle pricing
  • Helpful purchase assistants
  • Financing through major banks and credit unions
  • 30-day safety-related warranty for eligible vehicles

Cons

  • Fixed prices leave little room for negotiation
  • Warranty doesn’t cover all mechanical issues

Quality Vehicles and Easy Family Dealership

If you’re looking for a nice used car, this is a great place. They sell good quality vehicles; you won’t find junk here. It’s a family-owned business; they’re very easy to deal with. Would definitely go here again if I needed another vehicle.

Seamless and Low-Stress Car Buying Experience

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Charles and The Car Store team. From start to finish, the process was refreshingly easy. What impressed me the most was the complete absence of typical used car salesman tactics or high pressure sales pitches. Charles was straightforward, honest, and professional. If you’re looking for a seamless, low stress, and genuinely enjoyable used car buying experience, look no further. Thank you for setting the bar so high!
