Treat Your Senses to These 6 Candle-Lit Concerts in Winnipeg

Treat Your Senses to These 6 Candle-Lit Concerts in Winnipeg

Watching a candlelight concert, time just stops and you can’t help but feel completely immersed in the music. We got goosebumps throughout our first concert at the art gallery, and we’ve been looking forward to the next ones ever since.

Candle-lit concerts in Winnipeg are constantly changing, so there are always fresh repertoires every year. These 6 upcoming concerts are the ones we’re looking forward to.

1. From Bach to The Beatles

From Bach to The Beatles

From Bach to The Beatles is a staple with candlelight concerts, bringing together Bach’s best works and the Beatles’ most iconic hits. You have to see it in person to really see the value of this event.

When we went to our first Bach to Beatles concert, the entire thing was just absolutely mesmerizing. The gentle glow of the candlelight on the musicians’ faces and instruments created a very magical and intimate atmosphere.

There’s also usually not a lot of people going to these concerts, helping it feel even more personal. If you ever want to experience music in a different way, this concert is the best way to start.

2. A Tribute to Taylor Swift

A Tribute to Taylor Swift

The Tribute to Taylor Swift concert is a new offering, and is something we’ve been looking forward to since January! Everyone in our group is a rabid Swiftie, and we can only imagine what it’d be like hearing our queen’s songs this way.

We’re already anticipating goosebumps and feeling the hairs on our necks rising as Cardigan gets played by Listeso’s heavenly fingers.

Candle-lit concerts are usually divided into three zones, but we honestly think that the experience will be equally good throughout all the zones. That means that at just $40, you get a hair-raising once-in-a-lifetime experience!

3. A Tribute to Coldplay

A Tribute to Coldplay

A Tribute to Coldplay is another staple candle-lit concert, but the repertoire is freshened up each year. This was our first pop-themed candlelight concert, and we were pleasantly surprised that it could be so beautiful.

Some of us actually cried by the end of the show, and we can’t wait to see what there is in store for this year.

This is coming from people who only know a handful of Coldplay songs, so we imagine it’ll be an even better experience for those of you hardcore fans!

4. Romantic Jazz Special

Romantic Jazz Special

The Romantic Jazz Special we went to last year felt very nostalgic and surreal. It was also the first concert we went to with a singer, and it made a world of difference compared to the usual quartet setup.

This concert gives the perfect “romantic night” vibe, so it makes sense to add this to your list of date ideas. It’ll feature the Malcolm Aiken Quartet, which is composed of some of the most talented musicians in the city.

Imagine falling in love with the person next to you as La Vie en Rose is played under candlelight.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Featuring the classic soundtrack from the Peanuts movie, you’ll get to experience familiar songs like Christmas Time is Here and O Tannenbaum performed with the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s amazing acoustics.

We can already imagine this concert will feel like a scene from a Disney movie. This would make for a great family date idea, plus the tickets are pretty cheap!

Holiday Special featuring “The Nutcracker”

Christmas songs played by string instruments are something we’ve all grown up hearing, but it truly is a different experience at a candlelight concert.

Mixed with Fort Garry’s great acoustics and the magical feel you usually get at these concerts, we can only imagine what hearing Christmas songs will be like. We like to think that it’ll be as if you’re in a dark winter wonderland.
