The University of Winnipeg’s Production of Forward by Chantal Bilodeau Premieres This Feb 2025
The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Theater and Film is set to transport audiences to the Arctic with Forward by Chantal Bilodeau. This poetic yet humorous story about climate change runs from February 11 to 15, 2025.
Under the direction of faculty member Hope McIntyre, the Acting III: Honours will bring this play to life. It’ll feature a cast of nine, portraying 40+ characters, whose choices have made significant impacts on future generations.
The play follows the story of explorer Fridtjof Nansen and his daring expedition to the North Pole. As his journey unfolds, we’ll see the modern world move backward, forcing us to reflect on humanity’s environmental choices over the years.

Beyond its compelling narrative, the production stands out for its focus on sustainability and accessibility. It will bring a first-ever sensory-friendly performance on Feb 12 and an ASL interpretation on Feb 13.
In line with the play’s message about climate action, they’ve followed environmentally sustainable practices for rehearsals and production.
