1. Large Bronze Sculpture of a Lion

Large Bronze Sculpture of a Lion

Located at the entrance of the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, a magnificent bronze lion sculpture commands attention. This majestic piece, a favorite subject of Leo Mol himself, captures the essence of strength and courage.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mol was drawn to the symbolic power of the lion, and this sculpture serves as a fitting tribute to that affinity.

As you step into the garden, the imposing lion sets the tone for the artistic journey that lies ahead. Its presence embodies the vigor and bravery that often intertwine with the world of art.

This powerful introduction seamlessly introduces visitors to the collection of sculptures awaiting exploration within the garden’s confines.

2. Classical Garden

The Classical Garden is the focal point of Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, offering a captivating showcase of Leo Mol’s sculptures inspired by the rich tapestry of Greek and Roman mythology.

Among the masterpieces, encounter timeless representations of revered deities, including Apollo, Athena, Venus, and Mercury.

What makes this exhibition truly enticing is the deliberate arrangement of these sculptures in a graceful circular pattern surrounding a central fountain.

This meticulous design not only enhances the aesthetic allure of each individual piece but also crafts a cohesive experience for every visitor.

3. Leo Mol Gallery

Leo Mol Gallery

The Leo Mol Gallery is a tribute to the artistic legacy of Dr. Leo Mol. Born as Leonid Molodoshanin in 1915 in Polonne, Ukraine, Mol later found his artistic home in Canada in 1948, leaving an indelible mark as a master sculptor.

Central to the gallery’s charm is its role as a showcase for a diverse array of Dr. Mol’s works, unveiling the profound depths of his creative brilliance.

The gallery seamlessly weaves Mol’s life narrative into the fabric of the exhibition, inviting visitors to go on a journey through his artistic evolution.

A highlight of Mol’s sculpting prowess lies in his adept use of the Lost Wax method, a technique that becomes a living testimony within the gallery’s walls.

The intricate process unfolds as clay meticulously shapes itself around a rebar and wood framework, later ensconced in liquid rubber to birth a mold.

Layers of plaster envelop the mold, giving birth to a cast, which is then delicately separated from the original model.

Mol’s touch comes to life as melted beeswax is pressed into the rubber mold, eventually giving way to the infusion of a cement mixture, solidifying it into a unique masterpiece.

As visitors traverse the gallery, they are not mere spectators; they become immersed in Mol’s artistic odyssey.

The exhibits provide an intimate insight into the sculptor’s creative process, emphasizing the fusion of meticulous craftsmanship and artistic intuition that defined Mol’s approach.

From the initial modeling in clay to the final emergence of a wax model with a steadfast cement core, every step in the Lost Wax method is proof of Mol’s unwavering dedication to his craft.
