The 5 Best Centers for Prenatal Classes in Winnipeg That Make Pregnancy Feel Less Overwhelming
Everyone tells you to enjoy pregnancy because it’s a beautiful journey—but no one mentions that the road is bumpy, there’s no GPS, and your bladder is the first to give up.
That pretty much summed up my second trimester. I remember thinking, if this is the journey, I at least need a tour guide.
That’s where prenatal classes come in—like having a friendly co-pilot who actually knows what all the weird signals mean. They don’t just teach breathing or baby care; they make the whole experience feel less like chaos and more like confidence!
How much do prenatal classes cost in Winnipeg?
Specialized workshops like Baby Care 101 or Breastfeeding Basics usually fall between $75-$125, while private or bundle options are more expensive but offer personalized guidance.
The final pricing depends on the provider, setting (in-person or virtual), and whether add-ons like follow-up consultations are included.
1. Birth Roots Doulas and Childbirth Services

Website: http://www.birthrootsdoulas.com/
Phone: +12047926769
Business hours: Open 24 hours
Birth Roots has earned a stellar reputation in Winnipeg for its personalized, in-home prenatal education and doula care.
Their services range from private childbirth and recovery classes to HypnoBirthing, prenatal yoga, breastfeeding education, and newborn or sibling prep.
What I love about them is their approach, which combines research-based teaching with genuine emotional support, guiding families through pregnancy and postpartum.
And because their instructors hold international certifications from DONA, Lamaze, and Doula School International, you’re getting advice that’s both expert and deeply human.
You can take sessions in your living room or online, making learning relaxed and unhurried. But if you’re hoping to meet other expectant parents, that social side might feel out of reach.
Booking is simple, though their calendar fills up fast—especially for last-minute requests. And while one-on-one lessons give unmatched attention, they do come at a higher price than typical group formats.
We could not be more grateful for the experience we had with Birth Roots.
“We could not be more grateful for the experience we had with birth roots. My partner and I had absolutely no experience with babies prior to conceiving our own, and the birth classes we participated it prepared immensely for the adventure!
Our doula Meghan Duffield was absolutely amazing! Our son was born during the Covid lock down so no visitors other than partners were allowed into the birthing room, however Meghan was by our side (virtually) the entire time. She surpassed our expectations right from the very first visit and was such a joy to have by our side through our entire journey. Our time with her and the amazing experience she helped to foster will forever be in the memory of our birth story and we couldn’t be more great full.”

I like how the class addresses partners and how they can help with the labor experience, and ways to keep mom comfortable.
“My spouse and I joined the 5 week class with Jenn. She was fantastic! Highly recommend this class for any soon to be parents. I like how the class also addresses partners and how they can help with the labour experience and ways to keep mom comfortable. We definitely learned a lot and I feel more confident now as I get closer to my due date. Thanks Jenn!”

Equanimity Birth & Wellness offers a childbirth class that feels more personal than clinical.
Led by Mandy, a seasoned doula and educator since 2014, the practice offers a trauma-informed, inclusive approach that uplifts families across Manitoba and beyond.
Their Evidence-Based Birth Childbirth Class ($265 CAD) blends structure with flexibility—five weeks of self-paced modules, live Zoom mentorship calls, a virtual labor rehearsal, and bonus newborn care videos.
You also get months of access to course materials and earn points for prizes, which makes prepping a bit more fun! Topics range from comfort measures and partner communication to postpartum healing.
The experience is designed to feel genuine and supportive, even in an online format. Virtual consultations help rural parents stay connected, while postpartum, loss, and reunion programs keep the connection long after birth.
Just plan ahead, though—in-person slots are limited, with no drop-in or a la carte sessions.
Equanimity has been an incredible resource for us.
“Equanimity has been an incredible resource for us. We took Mandy’s classes that focus on education and preparation on our 29-31st weeks. Up until then we had done a lot of reading to prepare and thought we were well-informed, but the knowledge Mandy was able to share with us in the Childbirth Preparation, Comfort Measures in Birth and Baby Love classes was amazing.
The course material covered more than we had expected and was inclusive in language, tone and represented a diverse selection of examples. Mandy’s delivery was open and welcoming. We now feel a sense of relief and educated about the process in a way that will help us confidently navigate our way through the most wonderful event of our lives. Now stop reading and get in touch with Equanimity!”

Mandy was able to provide us with so much information than any book we had read.
“My partner and I had an amazing experience Equanimty Birth & Wellness. We went into the sessions thinking that we were fairly well prepared but Mandy was able to provide us with so much more information than any book we had read.
Mandy shared with us her wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for all the stages of pregnancy, labour and post natal care and helped us develop our birth plan. With this being our first baby well feel so much more organised and prepared for what is to come.
Thanks you so much for your guidance and positive energy, we can wait to meet our little girl!”

Business hours:

Fit Together began in 2009 when founder Aileen Hunt launched it with a simple goal—to help parents stay fit, connected, and confident through every stage of pregnancy and early parenthood.
What started as a small prenatal fitness initiative has grown into a full-fledged community supporting families well past the newborn stage.
I like how their programs span the entire perinatal journey, from prenatal yoga, aquafit, barre, Pilates, and cardio classes to postnatal favorites like Stroller Fitness (indoor and outdoor) and Parent & Baby Yoga.
The flexibility is also a huge plus—you can make up missed sessions in other time slots, and join late with pro-rated fees.
Just note that some registrations close early, and the refund policy requires a written request for changes.
I first joined the prenatal aqua fitness and loved it so much; it was what I looked forward to every week.
“Fit Together has been the most incredible experience for me as a first time mum. I can’t recommend it enough. I first joined the prenatal aqua fitness and loved it so much; it was what I looked forward to every week. After having my son, getting into Stroller Fitness once a week was incredible to get me back to moving as soon as I had doctor clearance. From all of the different classes we tried and all of the instructors we had, every experience was positive, welcoming, and accommodating. I looked forward to each class each week, and loved being able to show my baby the importance of being physically active. For baby, it was a great socialization experience and it helped him get ready for daycare interacting with other babies. We loved the outdoor and indoor programs all year long, and recommend it to all ability levels and families. Dad also enjoyed trying out a few classes too!
However far pregnant or postpartum, Fit Together has a class to fit your interest, ability and schedule. Sign up sooner rather than later, I promise the only thing you will regret is not signing up sooner!”

My home away from home!
“My home away from home! I moved to Winnipeg in 2019 just prior to the start of the pandemic and became pregnant in 2020. The owner (Aileen) and her solid crew of instructors were quick to pivot and ensure prenatal and postpartum exercise classes were readily available for those who needed them during such an unpredictable time. Classes were available to us during lockdowns via Zoom and/or outdoors in a number of locations around the city. I’ve taken part in almost all of the classes on offer, and I can’t find a single bad thing to say. If you’re a new parent looking for other likeminded folk in a similar stage of life to connect with in Winnipeg (while getting your sweat on), this is your spot! Good for the body, good for the mind, and great for the soul!”

Phone: +12049903519
Business hours:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday to Friday: 4:30 pm – 10 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 am – 5 pm
Bean Family Wellness feels like the cozy, all-in-one hub every expecting parent wishes they had. It’s calm, nurturing, and full of practical guidance that actually makes sense when you’re preparing for life with a baby.
I like that their programs cover nearly every stage of the journey. You can choose group sessions if you like the community feel, opt for private coaching to get deeper prep, or take specialty workshops like “Birthing Again,” Baby Care 101, or Postpartum Planning.
Everything is designed to fit your needs rather than sticking to a cookie-cutter approach.
Even after birth, they go the extra mile with CPR training and beautifully capture maternity and newborn photography, helping families “live well from day one,” as their motto suggests.
That said, their group classes tend to fill up fast, and last-minute bookings are tough to secure—early registration is definitely a smart move.
Really helped ease some anxiety we were having around labor and delivery.
“Had a great experience at the prenatal class! Really helped ease some anxiety we were having around labour and delivery. Lovely instructor, really knew her stuff.”

We were previously a little uneasy about the birth process, and the class’ content really helped us be more comfortable with what’s to come.
“My husband and I took the virtual prenatal class and it was so worth it! We were previously a little uneasy about the birth process, and the class’ content really helped us be more comfortable with what’s to come. The class was engaging, and we were all encouraged to ask questions.”

5. Foundation Birth Services

Address: 600 St Anne’s Rd Unit #230
Website: http://www.foundationsbirthservices.ca/
Business hours: Open 24 hours
One of the highlights of Foundation Birth Services is the St. Vital Childbirth Preparation Class Series ($325 CAD). Each in-person session runs two to three hours, giving parents time to ask questions, discuss concerns, and learn at a comfortable pace.
There’s no virtual option at the moment, but many clients appreciate the hands-on, interactive format that online classes just can’t replicate.
Beyond the course, participants can also access personalized support through doulas, which begins with a free consultation and customized pricing to meet each family’s needs.
This flexibility is a nice touch, especially for those looking to customize their birth plan without committing to a fixed package right away.
But what I appreciate the most about Foundation is how they balance education with overall well-being. Their counseling services ensure that mental and emotional health are treated as essential parts of the journey, not afterthoughts.
I felt empowered leaving the class and had so many tools to help me during labor.
“Highly recommend the birth classes taught by Tarana. So much valuable information was provided on options and alternatives along with stories of her personal experiences. I felt very empowered leaving the class and had so many tools to help me during labor. I had a very smooth induction/delivery with a quick recovery which I attribute to the informed decisions I made leading up to (and during) my labor – including using the birth ball to it’s full capacity. Hospital staff also commented on how helpful and informed my husband was as my support person!”

My husband and I took their birthing class series, and it has been the best decision throughout our pregnancy.
“My husband and I took their birthing class series and it has been the best decision throughtout our pregnancy. Each class dived deep into each topic and we left knowing our birthing options and what to expect during and after birth.
Education is the best thing you can give yourself during pregnancy and I highly recommend this birth series, especially if this is your first pregnancy.”
