Winnipeg Philharmonic’s Strings Attached Concert to Take Place on February 23, 2025

Mark your calendars! Winnipeg’s Philharmonic Choir presents Strings Attached, its second concert of the 2025 season, on February 23 at the Crescent Arts Centre. They’ll perform a mix of classical and contemporary music, written for chorus and strings.

But what has me counting down the days? The music of Ola Gjeilo (pronounced yay-lo), of course.

This Norweigan Composer has taken the choral world by storm with modern works that blend traditional, improv, and cinematic influences. Needless to say, I’m ready to be swept off my feet.

Even better, they are partnering with a local string quartet—including Vijary Chalasani, who also manages the choir—to bring Gjeilo’s works to life. I can already picture the lush harmonies and stirring melodies filling the space, lifting us into pure musical bliss.

The concert starts at 3 PM on February 23 at the Crescent Arts Centre. Tickets are now available for purchase, priced at $40 for adults, but only $30 for seniors and $20 for guests under the age of 30.
