These 7 best aerial fitness studios in Winnipeg are the ultimate way to get fit!

I still remember my first aerial fitness class—I thought I was about to gracefully twirl through the air like a Cirque du Soleil performer.

Instead, I got tangled in the silks like a burrito and had to be rescued by the instructor. “Well,” she said, trying not to laugh, “at least you’re flexible?”

But listen, once I figured out how to not tie myself into a human knot, I realized aerial fitness is actually an insanely fun way to get fit. It’s a workout that makes you feel strong, poised (eventually), and just the right amount of badass.

If you’re looking to ditch the treadmill and try something that makes fitness feel like playtime, Winnipeg has some amazing studios that’ll have you flying high—literally. Let’s talk about the best places to get started!

1. Vivacity Fitness

Location: 561 St Anne’s Rd
Website: https://vivacityfitness.ca
Phone number: +1 204 995 0051
Email: [email protected]
Hours of operation: By appointment only

Tucked away in the south end of Winnipeg, Vivacity Fitness has built a bit of a cult following since Kassy Bouchard, a kinesiologist, first opened its doors in 2011.

But don’t expect your typical gym experience here—this place is for anyone looking to swap the monotony of a treadmill for something way more exciting.

Now, what makes them commendable is the sheer variety of classes. We’re talking aerial hoop, aerial yoga, kickboxing, boot camps, pole dancing, and chairlesque (yep, exactly what it sounds like).

Signing up is easy—just shoot them an email to claim your spot. Payment locks it in, and they’ve got plenty of options: credit card or e-transfer online, or if you prefer the old-school route, cash or cheque in person works too.

If you’re considering personal training, be aware of their cancellation policy—less than 24 hours’ notice means you’ll still have to pay for the time scheduled. And if you’re more than 15 minutes late? That’s a no-go, and you’ll forfeit the session.

Fair enough, right? Trainers have schedules too. Best bet? Show up on time, ready to go, and make the most of it!

2. VogueFit

Location: 702 Scotland Ave
Website: https://www.vogue-fit.com
Phone number: +1 775 223 2205
Hours of operation:

  • Monday to Friday: 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: 4:00 pm – 8:45 pm

VogueFit is all about pole fitness and aerial classes where you can build strength, flexibility, and confidence in a way that feels more like an art form than a workout.

Here, you’ll be learning from Tara Meyer, and if that name sounds familiar, she’s a Cirque du Soleil soloist and a nine-time pole elite champion. When it comes to instruction, you’re in world-class hands!

They offer everything from beginner classes to advanced sessions, plus competition prep for those who want to take things to the next level. If you prefer a more personal approach, private coaching is also available.

Before you sign up, there are a few things to keep in mind. Once you book a session, it’s set—there are no refunds, no transfers, and no make-up classes.

If you need to cancel, make sure you do it at least 12 hours in advance, or you’ll be charged the full drop-in rate.

And for anyone under 18 who wants to take an aerial class, you’ll need a parent to come with you on your first visit to sign a release form. It’s an insurance thing, so they have to be there in person.

3. Monica’s Danz Gym

Location: 25 Scurfield Blvd. #4
Website: https://www.monicasdanzgym.com/
Phone number: +1 204 261 8890
Hours of operation: By appointment only

Monica’s Danz Gym started off looking more like a warehouse—nothing fancy—but it’s been completely transformed into a space that’s perfect for kids and aspiring aerialists.

Now, it’s home to two professionally equipped studios, designed with both safety and comfort in mind.

The larger studio was specially engineered to meet strict safety standards for aerial work, meaning you’ll see students soaring through the air on silks or swinging on a trapeze like it’s no big deal.

Oh, and there’s even some fun specialty equipment for “clowning around” (literally), including a tightrope!

Fun fact: This gym is actually Winnipeg’s first school that blends circus arts with dance. Think aerial silks, hoops, trapeze, and aerial yoga!

It was founded in 1993 by Monica Goermann—a former Canadian National and Olympic athlete. So yeah, she knows her stuff.

4. Bend Academy

Location: 2 Donald St #5
Website: https://bendacademy.ca
Phone number: +1 431 792 5678
Hours of operation: By appointment only

At Bend Academy, dance, acrobatics, and aerial arts come together in a way that’s both exciting and accessible for all ages and skill levels. Their programs are designed to provide fun and encouraging environments for learning.

If you’ve ever watched aerial silks and thought, “That looks impossible”—think again! It’s all about climbing, spinning, twisting, and striking dramatic poses on fabric sheets hanging from the ceiling.

But if you’re more drawn to the cirque-style elegance of aerial hoop (or Lyra, if you want to impress people), you’ll learn to create fluid, dynamic sequences on a suspended metal hoop.

The best part? You don’t have to commit right away! New students can try a class for free, so if you’re even a little curious, there’s no pressure—you can test it out before signing up.

5. Altea Winnipeg

Location: 100 S Town Rd
Website: https://alteaactive.com/winnipeg
Phone number: +1 204 221 3135
Hours of operation:

  • Monday to Friday: 5:00 am – 11:00 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 6:00 am – 9:00 pm

Altea Winnipeg is more like a wellness retreat right in the city!

They’ve got everything from top-notch facilities to some really unique classes, including antigravity fitness. If you’ve never tried it, picture yourself suspended in a silk hammock, stretching and moving in ways that make you feel almost weightless.

Whether you’re a total beginner or someone who can flip upside down without breaking a sweat, they’ve got modifications to make sure you feel comfortable.

If you’re the spontaneous type, you can totally try your luck with a walk-in. As long as there’s space in the class, they’ll let you jump in.

But if you’ve got your heart set on a particular time, booking ahead is probably your best bet.

6. Kids Etc Youth Movement Company Dance Studio

Location: 100 S Town Rd
Website: https://wpgkidsetc.com/
Phone number: +1 204 896 5172
Hours of operation:

  • Monday to Friday: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

At 11,459 square feet, Kids Etc Youth Movement Company is the largest dance studio in Winnipeg.

They offer a wide range of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, lyrical, modern, and musical theatre, with classes available for both adults and preschoolers.

But here’s where it gets really cool: they offer aerial silks. Beginners start with the basics—learning to hang, climb, and pull off some graceful poses.

If you’re more advanced, you’ll be working on footlock poses, scaling the silks to the top, and even inverting yourself into intricate aerial knots. Sounds intense, right?

The program is led by Coach Alex Di Curzio, who’s spent over 12 years mastering acro and aerial arts. With a Level 1 certification under his belt, he knows how to guide everyone from nervous first-timers to confident climbers.

7. Prairie Circus Arts

Media credit: prairiecircusarts

Location: 195 Collegiate St
Website: https://www.prairiecircusarts.com/
Hours of operation: Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours

Prairie Circus Arts is a non-profit spot dedicated to making circus training both professional and welcoming, the kind of place where hanging upside down suddenly seems like a completely reasonable life choice.

If you’re thinking about taking a class, here’s what to expect.

Aerial Silks is where you get to climb, twist, and drop (safely!) on long, flowing silks. Class sizes here are intentionally small (just 8 people), so you’ll get plenty of hands-on instruction.

Now, if spinning and posing in a suspended hoop sounds more like your vibe, Aerial Hoop is the one for you.

It’s a bit more exclusive (you have to be 18 or older to join), and because the class is so tiny, there are no refunds if you cancel. They need at least 4 people to run a session, so make sure you’re all in before signing up.
