The 5 Best Bike Rental Shops in Winnipeg We’d Recommend in a Heartbeat

Experience and Local Knowledge: We considered how long each shop has been serving Winnipeg and whether their staff are familiar with local bike trails and routes.

Variety and Quality of Bikes: We checked if they offered a good selection of bicycles, like road, hybrid, e-bikes, or kids’ bikes, and if the equipment was well-maintained.

Customer Service: We looked for shops that were friendly, helpful, and made the rental process easy for beginners and seasoned riders alike.

Pricing and Rental Options: We compared rental rates and looked for flexible options—hourly, daily, or multi-day—to see which shops provided the best value.

Customer Feedback: We read reviews and, if we could, spoke with renters to find out if they were satisfied with their experience, from booking to return.

Here’s the thing about renting bikes in Winnipeg: it’s a lot like dating apps.

You swipe (okay, pedal) through a few duds, but once you find the right match, you’re gliding along the river trails like you’re in a rom-com montage.

Except instead of flowers, you’re dodging geese—and believe me, Winnipeg geese are not here for your Hallmark moment.

Now, if you’re new to the city or just looking to trade four wheels for two, let me save you the trial-and-error. I’ve scouted out the top bike rental shops in Winnipeg, each perfect for different types of riders and adventures. Let’s go!

How much do bike rental services cost in Winnipeg?

Winnipeg typically range from $30 to $100 per day, depending on the style and performance of the bicycle. Weekly options can cost anywhere between $100 and $400.
Standard bikes are the most budget-friendly, while electric models are on the higher end. Expect to pay around $40 to $70  per day for mountain or folding bikes, while road bikes vary from $40 to $55.
Some services also offer discounts for groups, seniors, students, or low-income riders.

Kendrick’s Outdoor Adventures is a year-round rental company known for its versatile collection of outdoor gear—from traditional bikes to fat-tire models, e-bikes, icycles, and even e-scooters.

Rental rates start as low as $8, though the final cost will depend on the type of ride you’re after and how long you plan to keep it.

One thing we like is how accessible they try to be. You don’t need to book days in advance, and their team is happy to walk you through the different options if you’re not sure what fits your plans or the weather.

Speaking of weather, it plays a big role in when they’re open. Their hours shift depending on conditions, and while they list a range of times (such as late nights on Mondays and early mornings throughout the weekend), you’ll want to double-check before heading over.

Pros

  • Wide selection of bikes
  • Affordable pricing
  • No need for advance booking
  • Knowledgeable, helpful staff

Cons

  • Weather-dependent hours

Our fat tire experience was top-tier

“Today,  we rented fat tire bikes at Fort Whyte, what a great way to experience the trails. Our host was fantastic and very knowledgeable of the area, and gave us great directions on how to fully enjoy the bikes and the trails. They are independent of Fort Whyte and are great ambassadors for the facility. The bikes are a whole lot of fun, and they do more than just bikes. Check them out, knowledgeable and friendly, thanks so much. Support local and support Kendricks Outdoor Adventures!”

Kendrick’s made our ice adventure a breeze

“Amazing fun! Went skating on the river trail tonight and saw this ice bike and ice trike rental place conveniently located at ice level.

Rented the ice bikes for me and my 13-year-old and had an absolute blast touring down the river trail.  Also rented the ice trikes, which are a whole other type of adventure.

They have the easiest way to schedule and sign the digital waivers… Simply scan the QR code on their building signage and complete the process. It took at most 3 minutes for the two of us, and we were good to go!

Thank you, Kendrick’s Outdoor Adventures, for making this evening so memorable!”

Best birthday EVER!

“Alex and Julie took care of us, making sure we were having a blast through music or we got a drink into our hands on time, and the music choices were 10/10- Friends of mine are also thinking about booking the pedal pub for birthdays coming up!

Thanks again for the AWESOME NIGHT!!”

Their lineup is impressively versatile, covering mountain, road, hybrid, and electric bikes, with options for everyone, be it a quick afternoon spin or a week-long adventure.

You can rent by the hour, day, or week, which we find super convenient.

They also go beyond just bikes, offering services like expert fitting, repairs, and even skate sharpening. It’s clearly a well-loved shop that goes the extra mile for both locals and visitors.

That said, during peak season, demand can spike, so if you’ve got your eye on a particular ride, it’s best to book in advance.

Pros

  • Offers a variety of bikes
  • Flexible rental options
  • Additional services

Cons

  • Limited availability during peak season

Smooth ride, stellar service

“I had an outstanding experience at Bikes and Beyond! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and to provide anything you need. They offered expert and great advice, understanding my needs, making the store tour smooth and enjoyable.

‘FANTABULOUS’ selection of bikes and accessories, with something for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cyclist. I also appreciated the quick and efficient service, fixing accessories to my bike from another store, ready to go in no time.

Overall, Bikes and Beyond exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for top-notch products and exceptional customer service. I’ll definitely be coming back for all my cycling needs!💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫”

What we like more is how flexible their options are—you can rent for 4 hours, a full day, the weekend, or even an entire week, so you’re not locked into one plan.

Their bikes are well-maintained and ready to go, but since demand ramps up in peak season, we recommend booking ahead to avoid missing out.

Also worth noting: a refundable damage deposit is required at pickup. It’s a standard practice, but worth budgeting for.

Pros

  • Large selection of bikes
  • Flexible rental durations

5. Plain Bicycle – Bicycle Garden

Address: 267 Sherbrook St

Phone: +1 204 306 4737

Business hours:

  • Sunday to Tuesday: Closed
  • Wednesday to Saturday: 12 pm – 6 pm

Website

Plain Bicycle – Bicycle Garden brings a refreshing twist to the Winnipeg cycling scene. Specializing in Dutch-style bikes, they promote biking as a practical, everyday lifestyle.

Their fleet includes classic single-speed coasters and sturdy cargos—ideal for relaxed cruises around the city or even hauling groceries.

Rentals are available by the half-day, full day, week, or month, which works well for both tourists and locals exploring car-free living.

They also offer repairs, accessories, and guided tours. Whether you’re curious about the town’s bike infrastructure or hopping between local breweries, there’s likely a tour here for that.

That said, their selection is quite niche. If you’re after a road bike or planning to tackle rough trails, you won’t find many options here. And in warmer months, demand spikes fast, so we suggest booking early if you have specific dates in mind.

Pros

  • Dutch-style approach
  • Flexible rental options
  • Offers tours, repairs, and accessories
  • Comfy, stylish bikes for city riding

Cons

  • Limited selection for sport or trail riders
  • High seasonal demand

This shop sets the standard

“Top notch service both on the bicycles themselves and towards clients and potential clients within the store (particularly this last point – these people are not snobs). Anders and Jenny did great work and were a pleasure to be around.

This place is like the unicorn auto-mechanic: Good service, good prices, and they’ll tell you what to watch for on your bike, what needs fixing today, and what needs fixing tomorrow.

I will say that when you talk on the phone, you are talking to a friend of yours in the community who wants to fit you in, not the corporate front desk – that is, don’t mistake genuineness for obtuseness, and just go see them in person.

Thanks guys. See you next time.”
