Top 5 Centers for Dog Training in Winnipeg
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

The Top 6 Centers for Dog Training in Winnipeg

Much like humans, our dogs also have personalities of their own. They may have tendencies that could be harmful to others and themselves, so this is where effective dog training in Winnipeg comes in.

Today, let’s go over what dog training entails, how these classes can help our pets, and the best places we can avail of these services.

How Much Does Dog Training Cost in Winnipeg

The cost of dog training in Winnipeg depends on a variety of factors. The main indicator, however, will be the reputation and the proven expertise of the instructor.

Play Groups mainly work as socialization workshops for puppies, so they are priced the cheapest. Some facilities also offer adult dogs the same service, but the price will most likely be doubled.

Minimum cost is $10.00 but it can easily reach up to $30 per session if this workshop includes formal training. The length and location of the session also affects the cost.

As for Basic Training Classes, some centers offer a flat rate for all. But it may range from  $90.00 – $160.00 for every workshop, which may reach up to 6 sessions.

Some workshops may require your pet to stay inside the facility, as in the Board and Train Program. In this case, the pricing may shift to a daily rate, which may be quite expensive.

These centers may price Reactive Rover Classes differently as well, given the care and expertise the training requires. While some consider it under their flat-rate, we can expect a minimum for $135.00 per workshop.

Agility, Fitness and Endurance Training may also be under the flat-rate category. However, if a facility is known to specialize in this type of training, they may be more expensive.

The same goes with K9-specific workshops. This includes Canine Tracking and Detection Training, or Service and Therapy Training.

To determine the right cost, it is best for you to contact your dog training center of choice and make the inquiry. The pricing may also vary if you request for private classes and special schedules.

ServicePrice Range
Playgroups$10.00 - $30.00 per session; including training: $90.00 per session
Basic Training Classes$90.00 - $160.00 per workshop

Board and Train Programs$180.00 per day (on average)
Agility, Fitness or Endurance Training$135.00 per workshop (at minimum)
Canine Tracking and Detection Training$135.00 per workshop (at minimum) best to inquire with your dog training center of choice for specialized classes
Service and Therapy Training$135.00 per workshop (at minimum) best to inquire with your dog training center of choice for specialized classes

Off the bat, there is so much to love about the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Firstly, this community-service organization advocates for animal rights, aims to protect animals from abuse and promotes their welfare. Primarily run by donations and fundraising events, the organization also offers behavioral help through classes and training in their facility.

We like that they offer classes and workshops that involve both the pet and their handler. This ensures that learning is continuous and reinforced even at home.

Winnipeg Humane Society trains your pet for a more domesticated approach. This facility may not be your best choice if you prefer involving your dogs in sports and performative acts.

We recommend that you assess the feedback before making a decision, as there are mixed reviews on how they handle Lost & Found and Surrendered Pet cases. Still, choosing the organization also means supporting their cause.

Given their empathy towards animals and experience in training both cats and dogs, you are guaranteed quality service for the money you spend. This is also the oldest animal shelter in Manitoba!

Pros

  • Experienced instructors with great empathy
  • Has an established safety protocol for both pets and their handlers
  • Website and social media pages are active
  • Staff is accommodating and responsive online
  • Beneficial services – like adoption, spaying, and neutering.

Cons

  • Limited classes and services
  • Not the best choice for sporty pets
  • Does not offer endurance and agility training
  • No refund if clients fail to inform cancellation in a timely manner
  • Relatively expensive

Effective training course for my pup!

I enrolled my puppy in the Puppy Manners course at WHS with Caroline as our instructor. I absolutely love this type of training environment as it is a small group that offers more of a one-on-one training feeling. Caroline does such an incredible job at observing each of our puppies in the class, and connecting with the paw-parents. I love Caroline’s method of teaching as she will explain a command, and will demonstrate how to do a command with a puppy which helps visual learners like me. I find it really helpful when Caroline observes the behaviors of puppies and explains the reasons why a puppy exhibited that behavior. Overall, taking this course has allowed me to understand my puppy better and train my puppy in a supportive environment.

Great advocacy. We support!

Love what they do. If you really want to help out..get on the fostering program to help. You will be helping them out and serving the greater good by helping an injured animal get better in a less stressful environment.

Great experience for my fur baby!

My first time ever taking puppy classes and this place is fantastic! Amanda is amazing. She is so helpful and approachable  and I highly recommend Dumble Dogs for  all your training needs.

Simply the best!

I’ve taken my very active 8-month old Husky/Shepherd Arnold here for daycare for the last four months and he loves it. There is a ton of space to run around and play with the other dogs, regular outside potty breaks and lots of water to drink (or ‘play with’ in Arnold’s case). They post Instagram videos throughout the day so we can check in to see what he’s up to.

The staff all know him by name and are very friendly. They are all professional and knowledgeable and provide feedback for things Arnold can work on at home. They watch the group of dogs carefully and enforce breaks if dogs are showing signs of stress or overexcitability.

We’ve also taken him for Bootcamp sessions, where we got detailed homework for some of the things we’d had trouble training him on our own – and had just started Basic Manners group class before everything got shut down due to COVID – nothing but positive experiences!

Customer Reviews

Top quality service appreciated!

11 Years ago I bought our new puppy Triton for obedience training and to familiarize myself with techniques for at home training with my family. Triton loved going to class. He was happy, content and very willing to learn. He excelled in his classes and any extra classes Christie provided we would attend. Triton was a well behaved, gentle mannered, confident and happy treasured companion in our home. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. We wouldn’t have had this beautiful pet if it wasn’t for the excellent training he  received and the encouragement the pet parents received. We had to say goodbye to Triton yesterday, however I wanted people to know the difference a great trainer can make in a dog’s life and we owe a debt of gratitude to Christie. Thank you.
