Michaels is one of the largest and most popular art stores in North America. It has a huge selection of art supplies from various brands, with quality ranging from student-grade to professional.

An advantage we see to this store having multiple branches is that you’ll have various options to get your supplies. This is convenient for cases when the branch nearest you doesn’t have the item you need.

Besides art supplies, we also found Michaels to be a great place to shop for office supplies. Inside the art depot, you’ll find a great selection of pens, pencils, markers, papers, staplers, scissors, sticky notes, and every bit of item you’ll need.

In terms of pricing, we found that this store prices its items a little higher compared to other supply stores in Winnipeg. 

We think it will be more cost-efficient if you purchase in bulk. We also recommend using the store’s coupons as you can get huge discounts on your purchase.

These coupons are available on its online store, which we like. It’s best to check which brands are featured on the coupons so that you can finally buy those high-end office supplies you’ve been eyeing.

One thing we’re iffy about in terms of their physical store is that the items aren’t organized well. This means you might need to ask staff for help locating the office supplies you need. On the bright side, however, the online shop is tidier and easier to navigate.

Friendly staff and great selection of items

I came in here to use the Purolator Kiosk – the machine fascinates me. During my shopping trip I ended up with some things I needed for baking as I browsed the aisles, make it my one stop shop for my DIY craft and baking projects. Great location on a bus route I enjoy that they have a wide selection of florals is great especially with their buy one get one deal. I like how they have accessible parking right up to the front door for those who need it. Clerks are friendly and greet you with a smile. A great shop to find all kinds of art and office supplies

I went here looking for acrylic crystals, permanent markers and a hot glue gun, to modify my sons Halloween costume as an arts n crafts project together with him. It worked perfectly because they refract the lights beneath them throughout the crystals. Staples is another prime stop for various office supplies and equipment in Canada. We like that it has multiple branches across Winnipeg, so it’s easy to request an item from another branch should your nearest branch run out of stock.

We also find its online store to be easy to navigate, which makes us happy! Some items are categorized into brand and type, making browsing much more efficient. We also like how each item has product reviews, making it easier for buyers to assess which ones are worth paying for. 

Now, a downside we found in this shop is that its office supplies are pricier than other shops. This might push away budget-conscious shoppers who are looking to get the best bang for their buck.

Buying in bulk is one way to save some coin or bag discounts with your purchases. However, if you only need to restock a few office items, Staplesmight not always be the most cost-efficient option.

Sadly, we’ve been hearing that the physical store can be disorganized, and that some of the staff are unsure about where some supplies are located.

Excellent staff service and equipment quality

Very good service, especially at the print centre. A machine wasn’t working properly and so my laminate turned out less than  ideal, so it was all free. I was impressed with not only that but the concern they had with delivering a quality product. All other staff members were also nice and helpful. From what we and other shoppers have experienced, this store has quite a selection of office supplies and equipment that will surely turn workplaces into havens of productivity and creativity!

We found the shop hosts supplies from popular brands, such as Pentel, Duracell, TruSens, and Post-It. It also has its own “generic” line of supplies, which we think are budget-friendly alternatives to the pricier brand names.

Despite only offering essential supplies, we believe that the items they carry are fairly durable and functional. Budget-conscious professionals looking for affordable supplies should definitely explore this store.

We were also told that this store’s physical site is easy to navigate, which is refreshing to hear. Also, staff are known to be friendly and familiar with the different office products the store carries. So if you feel overwhelmed by the store’s vastness, we suggest asking them for help.

If there is any setback to be found, we think it will be in how it handles transactions. From what we’ve been told, there have been some issues concerning receipt discrepancies when paying via credit card.

While these happen few and far between, we think that the store should look into this matter to avoid any accounting discrepancies and potentially-escalated complaints from customers.

If Winnipeg had its own mecca of office supplies, we think it will be Pen and Paper along McLeod Avenue.

Established in 1989, this family-owned business started as a stationery supplies and printing services company that mainly serves Winnipeg. Today, it remains a trusted shop for office supplies, as well as a hub for printing and bookbinding services. 

We love that despite the lack of an online store, Pen and Paper isn’t limited to in-store shopping. You may place orders via phone or email, and the store will be happy to deliver them for you.

Additionally, we hear that the shop’s staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, which always gets top marks from us.

The store also accepts special orders, which may actually come in handy when ordering a hard-to-find item in bulk. For example, if it doesn’t have the product you want to buy, the shop may place special orders of the items just for you.

For us, it’s this kind of service–where customer satisfaction is always the priority–that made Pen and Paper the trusted office supplies store it is today.

We can only imagine how their customer base will expand should they launch an online store. We personally think that it’s a great idea to bring their wonderful brand experience to other places.

I’m a textures person, I like to feel the paper options and choose which paper to print my Christmas cards on every year. Linen and Pearl are my top two. Another favorite of mine from Pen and Paper are the water color paper cards and envelopes. They make for very special, personalized Birthday and Thank You cards. Another all-around store in Winnipeg that sells both office supplies and electronic devices is The Source, which also has several branches in the area.

Now while this store has an ocean of office tech, its selection of office supplies is more limited. In fact, we found that most of the supplies are related to office equipment, such as printer paper and inks, as well as photo and sticker papers.

To be fair, writing tools are also available, although they’re colored pens mainly used for highlighting. Still, we think they’re great for meticulous working professionals who like to stay on top of their game.

Additionally, they carry a fantastic selection of inks and papers in this store, so you won’t have to worry about empty ink cartridges or paper trays. We also appreciate how the store offers inks and papers from different brands to cater to different buyers’ preferences.

On the downside, besides needing to expand its lineup of office supplies, we’ve heard reports about some staff not really extending the best in-store customer service. Some customers have found themselves completely on their own in navigating the shop and finding their items.

We hope that management will take this as a sign to retrain their staff and get them updated on the store’s inventory.

Great item selection on sale

Went in recently to buy some batteries for my mouse and was helped out by Prab. She was great and showed me some new gaming mice they had on sale which i grabbed. Prab also took a look at my bell account and told me i was eligible to upgrade two of my lines and i ended up getting two new iphones and my plan price barely increased.
