The 5 Best Pilates Studios in Winnipeg That Locals Keep Going Back To

Qualifications of instructors: We selected studios that have well-trained and experienced instructors. They can spot poor form and teach proper techniques, helping clients maximize workouts and avoid injury.

Variety of classes: To accommodate different skill levels, body types, and physical limitations, we chose studios that offer various pilates classes.

Quality equipment: Well-maintained equipment is key to safety. To keep workouts smooth, effective, and injury-free, we ensured that the mats, resistance bands, and large apparatuses were in tip-top shape.

Clean facilities: Since classes may involve close contact with equipment, proper cleaning is necessary to prevent the spread of germs, viruses, and other allergens. We picked spots that offer clean, dry, and clutter-free exercise environments.

I’ve been taking yoga classes for years, mainly to improve my posture and calm my mind. Over time, though, I started noticing aches and pains in places that never used to hurt, which made it clear that my routine had to change.

My friends recommended pilates. With more gyms offering specialized equipment and programs, I wondered if it was all hype, but I was quickly proven wrong when I tried it out myself.

While I’m happy with the studio I ended up with, not all of them are great. To help you find the right fit for your fitness journey, I reviewed and made a list of the top spots in Winnipeg.

How much do pilates classes cost in Winnipeg?

Pilates classes cost around $21 to $31 in Winnipeg for a single drop-in session, while 12-week packages cost about $228. That’s $19 for one class per week.

Core Centric is a fully-equipped pilates studio with reformers, Cadillac frames, wunda chairs, and mats. Although it’s not the biggest gym around, the space is thoughtfully laid out, so you can move around comfortably.

The studio offers programs for all skill levels. Led by certified instructors who specialize in private lessons, they’re great if you want to refine your form and build a strong foundation.

Patrons mentioned that the instructors aren’t just knowledgeable but also very enthusiastic about teaching. They’ll keep you in a good mood throughout your session.

As a new client, you’re required to sign up for an initial assessment before joining a class. It costs $82, which is quite a steep price to pay for an intro session.

Still, we think it’s worth it, especially if you’re looking for personalization. After evaluating your fitness level and pilates knowledge, they can create a custom plan that can bring you closer to your fitness goals.

Pros

  • Personalized service for new clients
  • Classes for all skill levels
  • Certified instructors with decades of experience
  • Clean and well-organized studio
  • Various pilates equipment

Cons

  • Expensive initial assessment

The instructors are always attentive, patient, and dedicated

I’m very happy with my pilates classes. The instructors are always attentive, patient, and dedicated. They take the time to correct my posture and make sure I get the most out of every session. Their kindness and professionalism make each class an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Teachers are all super knowledgeable and helpful

I absolutely love this pilates studio. The teachers are all super knowledgeable and helpful, and the classes are wonderful. I’ve had some injuries in the past, and the small class size allows for adjustments as needed, and I love that you have to do 3 one-on-one classes before you can join the group classes (to make sure you know what you’re doing and that you don’t hurt yourself). I cannot recommend Core Centric enough!

Club Pilates has a wide range of reformer-based workouts designed to entertain and challenge all skill levels. We appreciate that they offer multiple class types throughout the day, making it easier to find an option that fits your schedule.

The regulars we spoke to shared that the staff is a huge reason they keep coming back. Because the instructors are attentive and patient, they feel comfortable in every session.

As a new client, you’re required to sign up for a 30-minute, full-body class. Although it’s complimentary, it can feel like an unnecessary hurdle, especially if you have prior experience with pilates.

Their mat pilates classes are included in the membership. However, you have to pay an additional fee to enroll in reformer-based workouts.

Compared to other spots on our list, this is a bigger gym. Inside, it’s spacious and well-organized, so it never feels too stuffy when the classes are packed.

Aside from the studio, clients told us that they were impressed by the staff. The instructors are great at setting up a supportive, non-intimidating environment, making it easier to establish a consistent workout schedule.

Pilates Manitoba is one of the standouts for injury recovery and pain relief. They incorporate different methods like MELT, physiotherapy, and athletic therapy with the usual pilates classes.

Even though they draw in an athletic crowd, the studio welcomes practitioners of all fitness levels. You can easily choose classes that fit your skills and interests.

The studio itself, however, is a bit small for our liking. While other clients shared the same sentiments, some say the intimate setting definitely outweighs this small drawback.

Without huge crowds, the instructors are able to focus on each student. They can explain the poses clearly and then teach you how to perform them correctly.

Pros

  • Small, intimate setting
  • Adds recovery programs with pilates classes
  • Attentive instructors
  • Suits all fitness levels
  • Various equipment

Cons

  • Limited space

Knowledgeable and encouraging

The instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging. They always encourage you to be kind to yourself and do the best that you can.

Great variety of classes to meet your needs

This is one of my favorite places. Great place to do pilates. Great variety of classes to meet your needs and keep you motivated, strong and having fun. Wonderful instructors.

Equipped with special equipment and programs for athletes and dancers, Pilates Pro is a go-to for practitioners with advanced skills. They help pros tone, strengthen, and enhance their endurance.

It might sound intimidating for beginners, but it’s actually not—at least that’s what their patrons mentioned. Many of the people we talked to, who are neither dancers nor athletes, enjoy the well-rounded fitness programs that match their capabilities.

Because of the intimate setting, Bernadette, their pilates instructor, is able to tailor the fitness plans to each client’s needs and skills. We admire her attention to detail and passion, which is what really makes this place special.

The downside is that Bernadette is the only instructor. If you don’t like her teaching methods, you won’t have any other options.

Pros

  • Various equipment
  • Programs suit all skill levels
  • Personalized fitness programs
  • Attentive instructor

Cons

  • Few instructors

Had a good experience with a private lesson

Had a good experience for a private lesson at pilates, Bernadette seems a very experienced/professional coach, especially in strength training, injury recovering rehabilitations, etc. She offers more nuanced guidance. I am now joined at their beginning class after the private lesson.

Pays close attention to form, posture, and technique

Bernadette at Pilates Pro has changed my life. I had suffered with back pain for years due to scoliosis, consulting surgeons, requiring regular chiropractic, and still was re-injuring frequently and easily. I was referred to Pilates Pro about 6 years ago by my physiotherapist, (Angela Hazlewood at St Vital Physio – also amazing). Bernadette is incredibly knowledgeable and pays close attention to form, posture and technique (no cheating allowed). Only attending one class per week improved my posture and alignment dramatically, and more importantly strengthened my core. I traded my debilitating back pain for the satisfying short term muscle stiffness that often follows a good workout. I now attend twice per week and am stronger at almost 50 than I was in my 20s. Thank you Bernadette.
