The Burger Place has been one of the go-to places in Winnipeg for delicious burger meals for 35 years. John Siates first opened its doors in 1987 until it was bought by Gus Vailos, which the Kostis family eventually purchased.
This restaurant is famous for its handcrafted burgers and fries. Its burgers have a long history of using the best and high-quality ingredients to partner with its famous patties.
For over 20 years, it has been sourcing its all-Canadian beef from the same supplier. On top of that, its patties are pressed and hand-formed daily, assuring you of its freshness.
Every week, The Burger Place serves over 1500 handcrafted burgers, which shows how much locals and tourists love this place. But we love how it offers large servings at a fair price!
Aside from its burger meals, its hand-cut fries are another best seller. Each month, it uses up to 5000 pounds of Manitoba Russet potatoes because of high demand from customers.
This restaurant also has a sizable team of accommodating and courteous staff. From what we’ve seen, the staff is friendly and professional, which is a point for them in our book.
The Burger Place opens daily, which is convenient. However, business hours vary since it closes early on Sundays.
Fortunately, it has another location in West Saint Paul, which is more accessible for those who reside outside Winnipeg. It also accepts online orders for pickup, which is perfect for those planning picnics or road trips.
Pros
- Has 35 years of experience

- Accepts online orders

If you’re looking for a burger restaurant that offers homemade burgers, you should stop by Super Boy’s.
It opened its doors in 1985 when Angelo Corantzopoulos and his family decided to make world-class food for Winnipeg and beyond.
After starting the business, Angelo was eventually joined by his daughter Georgia Chouzouris and son-in-law, Dino, in operating this restaurant.
We love how it has maintained its quality of service over the years, making it one of the benchmarks of family restaurants in Winnipeg.
Of course, its homemade burgers deserve the spotlight. We love its fresh and fluffy buns that go perfectly with its patties, with the Double Super Boy as our favorite!
This restaurant ensures that everything is fresh, from patties to fries. It also offers homemade chili, gravy, and sauces, all made from scratch.

If you’re a burger lover and care for the environment, you should take a trip to Nuburger. This restaurant is known for being one of Canada’s most environmentally-responsible eateries with its sustainable practices.
Nuburger was started by Manitoba-born and raised founders Marc Priestley and Kyle Matheson in 2011. When Marc and Kyle opened this restaurant, they focused on sourcing local ingredients to support small farmers and promote sustainability.
This restaurant has been featured on television shows, including You Gotta Eat Here!, Prairie Dinner, and One Dish. It was also recognized by Canstar in ‘The Best of Winnipeg’ feature three years in a row.
This restaurant uses beef, chicken, and pork, which are 100% Manitoba-sourced and ethically raised. Of course, its other ingredients and sauces are also locally sourced from Winnipeg-based suppliers.
Nuburger’s practice is a point in our book because mainly sourcing ingredients locally helps the community economically and environmentally.
On top of its ethically-sourced meat for its patties, it also uses buns baked daily at Gunn’s bakery. So, you’re assured that your burger is fresh every day.
We also love how Nuburger practices and promotes composting through its sustainable packaging. Its takeout meals have compostable containers, which you can use as fertilizers for your backyard or home garden.
This restaurant also has gluten-free burgers, which are perfect for people with dietary restrictions. If you have other allergies, you can discuss them with the staff so they can assist you.
Not only does Nuburger have a unique selling point with its sustainable practices, but it also offers convenience for customers. For instance, it is available in multiple Manitoba locations, providing more access for you.
It also opens daily and has extended hours, an advantage over other burger restaurants. However, it closes earlier on Sundays, so make sure to drop by before 8:00 PM.
Fortunately, you can have your orders delivered. You can also request catering services but make sure to meet the required minimum orders.

My guy loves them fries. They have lots of good dip for fries too.” – Taylor Hingey, Google Reviews
Professional service
“The service was great. The food tasted amazing and was very fresh.
We ordered the Ye Burger and the Mack burger with fries. Both burgers tasted very tasty and full of flavour.” – David Hofer, Google Reviews

RedTop Drive Inn has served one of the best burgers in Winnipeg for over 60 years.
Gus Scouras opened this restaurant in 1960. It was eventually owned by couple John and Vicky Scouras and passed down to Peter Scouras to run the family business.
At present, Stavros Athanasiadis and his wife, Chelsea, own RedTop. Although it has a long history, we are impressed with how the tradition and the recipes were kept intact.
Traditionally-ran family restaurants have distinct charms, and RedTop Drive Inn surely aced this one.
This restaurant offers a wide range of burgers and other meals, which we love. Its burgers are made fresh daily using local lean ground beef.
We tried its bestsellers Lot-O-Burger and The Mayor, and they didn’t disappoint. The ensemble of patties, cheese, and dressings hit the spot.
Aside from its diverse burger menu, you can choose from other meals, including hotdogs, chicken, gyros, and sandwiches. You can also order from its kids’ menu if you have children under 12 years old.
RedTop has a menu for breakfast and dinner, which is another favorite. Breakfast meals are served until 4:00 PM, so you can take time to eat your brunch.
Aside from its charm as a traditional family restaurant, we love how RedTop gives back to its community. It offers the Peter Scouras Memorial Scholarship, dedicated to Manitoba high school students who are rugby players.
If you wish to visit this restaurant, you’re lucky because it opens daily. However, it closes early on Sundays, so make sure to come here before 2:00 PM.
