The Cost of Vacuum Repair in Winnipeg

A good vacuum can last you decades and repairs typically don’t cost a lot. That’s why having your durable product repaired and serviced is a better option than buying a new unit in most cases.

That being said, each case is unique, so you do need to ask technicians if it’s still cost-effective to go for a repair instead of a new unit. Some repairs also cost more, whether due to the cost of the replacement part or some other issue.

In any case, here’s a rundown of the usual cost of repair for the most common vacuum issues:

Basic Belt Changing$8 to $15
Basic Brush Replacement$25 to $45

Tache Vacuum Center is a full-service vacuum store that offers a wide variety of vacuum-related products and services. What’s great about this place is that they sell both new and used vacuums for those on centralised systems.

They accept trade-ins for all vacuums as well. That’s a great service, as it can help cut down on the cost of a new one if you do need to go for full-on replacement.

They have an intense 10-step no-obligation inspection process that allows them to test the performance of your vacuum, check the filter, bag, hose, and more. They use a TorandoPower cloth to clean your vacuum’s pipes after the 10-step process to remove any remaining debris or dirt.

We included them on our list because they offer the 10-point inspection process plus a cleaning of your in-wall vacuum pipes for only $69.96. This is a great value because the 10-step process includes a lot of things:

  • Testing the entire unit
  • Checking the filters and valves
  • Testing low-voltage wires
  • Inspecting the hose and switches
  • Checking all electrical connections
  • Inspecting the pipe for any leaks or blockages

If you own a Central Vac and you need repair or maintenance, this is a good option because of that value. It’s a pretty comprehensive service, as far as we can see.

Pros

  • Affordable rates
  • Free estimate
  • Same-day repair service
  • 30-day warranty

Cons

  • Services limited to Central Vacuum
  • Closed on weekends

“We are very satisfied with the work Jack did on our central vacuum . It was not picking up the dirt and Jack made an appointment and took it to the shop.  After giving us an estimate on the costs to prepare and replace parts , he had it back and reinstalled , working like new. Well actually he had to put in a new motor. All the work was done quickly and we had it back within the week.  The unit was about 20 years old. Thanks Jack.” – Charles B.

“I received my repaired power head the  next day and it works great.  It is nice to be able to bring an item in and actually speak to a person or people working who understand the product and have the expertise to fix it and who don’t the new age mentality to just throw it in the garbage and buy a new one.  Saved me some $$ on repairing instead of replacing.  Thanks” – Don P.

“I had some of the best service I have ever received from a service person yesterday. Jack (the owner) is fantastic. He certainly knows his work and goes above and beyond to make his customers happy. This is the place to go if you have a central vac issue.” – Shayla K.

“Exellent!!  Steve and Ameera are the best! I would recommend them to everyone looking for excellent service, reasonable prices and an honest and thorough repair and cleaning. I was so very happy to find them and have them fix my vintage Filter Queen. It now runs like new and looks like new too!  In addition to repairs, it’s definitely the go to place in Winnipeg for vacuum filters and/or parts.” – Marilyn S.

“We weren’t sure where to take our Dyson vacuum for repairs and chose Winnipeg Vacuum based on the ratings.  We were not disappointed.  The vacuum was serviced and ready the following day and we learned why we had the problem we did.  We will definitely return to Winnipeg Vacuum and recommend it to our friends.  Great customer service as well!” – Carolyn C.

“Was looking to fix my 7 year old Kenmore vacuum because the suction was not working and the check bag light was staying on.

Another shop I had previously inquired with told me they charge

an inspection fee of $59.99+taxes and the repair/labour cost would be calculated afterwards. There was also a 7-10 day wait time to have this all done, and for this reason I looked elsewhere and (thankfully) found Canada Vacuum.

Steve, the owner of this shop, immediately checked it out and let me know what needed to be done: a tune up ($50) and new HEPA filter ($20). Costed about $79 after taxes which is very reasonable considering everything was done in one day. No mind games, no pushy sales. Overall, a pleasant experience with this professional, honest, and reliable service. Thank you Steve!” – Tina T.

“Jefferson is a very knowledgeable representative for Vacuflo. We implemented all of his recommendations and ideas discussed at our consultation which have proven to be invaluable now that the unit is in and being used. His quotes and responses to questions were timely and comprehensive. The installer was excellent. He was able to figure out how to make our request work (which was not easy as we have it spanning all three floors and the garage). His workmanship was fantastic. His piping solutions are well placed and are not intrusive in any room. The products that we purchased are all great. The unit has a very strong suction. The attachments are all perfect and well suited for our needs. The storage is great as everything is easily tucked away and hidden. I like the idea of the hose soc as it really helps to protect the walls and furniture. Overall the products are all high quality and will endure use for a long time. I recommend Vacuflo for anyone considering a central vac option for their home. Well done!” – Dan L.

“We had the Vacuflo “hide-a-hose” installed in our new home built 10 years ago. We love it! Excellent suction, no heavy vacuum to lug up and down stairs, and the single 75’ hose reaches 90% of the house.  (We were too cheap at that point to get a second hose as all that is left is some unfinished utility areas). The whole hose is contained in the wall. The power is a wifi switch on the wand so there are no cords either. Just a couple of batteries to change every few years.

We recently sucked up a fabric belt into the system which clogged it. I called the Winnipeg office and an extremely kind gentleman walked me through how to troubleshoot and fix it myself. He said the clog usually ends up at the end of the hose. And I learned from him that the whole hose comes easily out of the wall! So even if we could not fix it we could just take the hose into the shop! The belt was at the end of the hose and was easily removed with a pair of needle nose pliers. Thanks Vacuflo!” – Brett M.
